“About seven months back, my late niece reported her husband’s changing attitude and the family had to intervene.
“We invited him along with his parents to iron things out, but after a while she complained again. It was at this point that she chose to move out to a new place, where he still visits on the pretense of wanting to see his 3-year-old son, ” he said.

Speaking further, Habibu said Manu who hails from Zaria, Kaduna State, had earlier been threatening Fatima and one day, he called to ask her to make available N800, 000 for him to settle some debts.

“Meanwhile, Fatima had always tried to let her husband know that the money he assumes she had was not in her custody, but he never wanted to hear that.
“Manu visited Fatma at her residence at the Low-Cost Housing Estate after she had closed from her place of work, Zubairu Pilot Primary school in Dutsinma town where she teaches Basic Science.
“On the day the murder was perpetrated, at about 8:30pm, Manu was in and out of the compound as though he was searching for something, before he finally left after 11:00pm.
“But the next day, Fatima’s maid met her lifeless body on the bed the next day with blood trickling from her mouth, and bruises on one side of her face.

Her maid raised the alarm and Manu who was the main suspect was apprehended and handed over to the police.

“At the police station, he owned up and confessed to the killing, even narrating how he did it,” the deceased’s uncle added, stating that the family want the law to take its course.

Confirming the arrest, the state Commissioner of Police, CP, Abdullahi Usman, said investigation had opened up on the matter.
