Nigerian army relocates over 200 female soldiers from Maiduguri in anticipation of Boko Haram attack
According to a report by Sahara Reporters,
the Nigerian military authorities are moving female soldiers based in
various army formations in Maiduguri and other parts of Borno State to
Abuja as the army anticipates a massive attack on Maiduguri, the Borno
State capital, by Boko Haram.
The sources said there was heightened apprehension about an impending attack, hence the decision to reassign female soldiers to Nigeria’s capital. The military action also stemmed from the death of five female soldiers and the abduction of another four by Boko Haram militants when they attacked a military base in Baga a few weeks ago.
Following recent intelligence indicating that Boko Haram militants were strategizing on a fierce offensive to capture Maiduguri before the February 14 elections, the army moved more than 70 female soldiers last week.
One of our sources revealed that 146 more female soldiers had been moved to Maiduguri airport, where they are awaiting airlift to Abuja. The source said that all the female soldiers were supposed to have left by 10 a.m. on Thursday, but added that the military did not have a large enough aircraft to take their entire luggage.
The security sources also told SaharaReporters that Maimalari Barracks, home to the 7th Division of the Nigerian Army, is the only military base left standing in Borno State. Maimalari was described as the only military formation capable of withstanding a major attack from Boko Haram militants. One source said that Nigerian military intelligence had received information that Islamist militants were regrouping in areas around Maiduguri in preparation for a major offensive against the city.
The Islamist fighters’ attempt to take over the state capital last week was foiled, with Nigerian troops and civilian vigilante members collaborating to kill more than 100 terrorists. However, the militants successfully overran Monguno Barrack, killing and injuring many soldiers.

Read Etcetera's Memo To Buhari's Supporters..
Stupid is a word that has a broad range of applications, but it
generally means a person lacks rudimentary intelligence or the ability
to reason. It can also imply a congenital lack of capacity for
reasoning, or a permanent state of daze or slow-mindedness.
However one defines or applies the word stupid, you can hardly think of
the word without directly relating it to the utterances of some Buhari’s
supporters; especially the supposedly literate ones.
Let’s not be stupefied into supporting any candidate. We are screaming for a corrupt free nation, yet we are refusing to see that electing someone without the required qualification is as good as endorsing corruption. No one would want to admit that half of this country’s population is inherently stupid, much less ignorant, but at the rate politicians garner votes based on sheer fantasy and lies, there is no other conclusion that makes any sense whatsoever.
Over the past week, it became apparent that the level of stupidity inherent in those inclined to support certain politicians at all cost is beyond comprehension. In fact, it is frightening that so many Nigerians of voting age lack the fundamental reasoning ability of a second-grader and are even less-informed about basic facts than a kindergarten.
I have heard some of the most bizarre ideas peddled by some Buhari’s
supporters and I am really concerned about the future of this country. I
have heard troubling statements like: “It really doesn’t matter if
Buhari is qualified or not, he must be the next president and we’ll vote
for him. Even if he presents a NEPA bill as certificate, we don’t care,
we will vote for him. Are these people for real?
To base your position on whatever absurdity your favourite candidate espouses; regardless of reality is the reason why we are in this hell of a nation. These are exactly the type of supporters Nigerian politicians bank on to win elections. These goons should know that in a democratic system, we live by the constitution and the Nigerian constitution in section 131 (d) gives a specific order for all presidential candidates to show proof of education up to a minimum standard not below school certificate or its equivalent.
If Buhari doesn’t have the required qualification, he should be
disqualified immediately or if it is proven that his certificate or
result was doctored or forged, he should be arrested and charged to
court for deception. Atahiru Jega and his INEC got us into this
embarrassing position. How can someone refer INEC to the Secretary of
the Military Board for his credentials when it is stated clearly that
every contestant should attach copies of their qualification to their
forms? INEC is a joke.
If elections are conducted like job interviews, can the applicant direct his would-be employers to his previous work place for his credentials? Won’t the applicant be chased off the premises with a stick or security dogs? How do we bring about the clamoured “change” in the nation when we can’t treat the nation’s business as ours?
Nobody is saying you shouldn’t support Buhari or any candidate of your
choice but it shouldn’t be based on sentiments of any kind. The other
day, a radio presenter was screaming like a banshee on radio of how
Buhari is a man of great ideas, you shouldn’t be the one telling us what
Buhari’s ideas are.
As a radio presenter, it is against NBC regulations for any presenter to influence listeners’ votes. Buhari should sell himself convincingly enough to earn their votes. Aren’t we tired of having leaders who can’t sell their ideas themselves? That’s why they haven’t approached the subject of how they are going to revive the economy in any of their campaign speeches?
Let’s not be stupefied into supporting any candidate. We are screaming for a corrupt free nation, yet we are refusing to see that electing someone without the required qualification is as good as endorsing corruption. No one would want to admit that half of this country’s population is inherently stupid, much less ignorant, but at the rate politicians garner votes based on sheer fantasy and lies, there is no other conclusion that makes any sense whatsoever.
One thing is certain; if Nigerian voters were not so stupid, they would not knowingly go against what is right, whether for their personal, ethnic or religious interest. Our politicians know that without stupid people, most of them would be extinct as viable political forces. But they are far from going extinct and it is all down to the level of stupidity permeating this sad ignorant nation.
I don’t need to reply Kelly Hansome claims –MI

, “I read the article but I don’t think that is exactly what he was saying. I understand that it is all about publicity but there are some comments that do not need response. Of course, Kelly Hansome and I have met, we have spoken and we have a cordial relationship. If Kelly Hansome said he made MI, I don’t think it is something I need to respond to. I think MI’s success is self-evident and that is the truth.”MI refuted claims that he had a beef with Olamide. He said ...
“I am a huge fan of Olamide; people do not realise how much I appreciate what he is doing right now. He is not alone because there are other indigenous rap artistes like Reminisce and their music is amazing. What they are doing has never been done before apart from that of the late Da Grin. They should be supported. However, I have no problem with Olamide. We see each other and we are friendly towards each other but I will not say that we are close friends. I am happy about his success. He is even on my album and we do not have any form of beef,” MI said.
Army General,Senior Officers Arrested Over Boko Haram's Takeover of Baga
A Brigadier General, Enitan Ransome-Kuti, his Chief of Staff, Lieutenant
Colonel G.A. Suru and some other senior officers have been arrested by
the authorities of the Nigerian military over their failure to repel the
attack on the headquarters of the Multinational Joint Task Force
[MNJTF] in Baga.
According to Premium Times, Mr. Ransome-Kuti, the Commander of the
Multi-National Joint Task Force, MNJTF, his Chief of Staff and the other
senior officers were detained shortly after they arrived Maiduguri from
Monguno where they and their troops took refuge after they were
dislodged from Baga.
The Defence spokesperson, Chris Olukolade, in a statement said,
The sources said the military authorities are especially angry with Mr. Ransome-Kuti for his inability to lead his troop to counter the Boko Haram onslaught despite the high calibre weapons and ammunition made available to his formation. The Brigadier General is also send to have gone underground for four days after the MNJTF was dislodged.
The Defence spokesperson, Chris Olukolade, in a statement said,
“Nigerian officers in key command positions of the Multi-National Joint Task Force (MNJTF) are in the process of accounting for their actions leading to the loss of weapons, men and location in their area of responsibility in the mission area.”A Premium Times source said military authorities are disappointed that the attack on Baga was not repelled by troops of both battalions and the MNJTF headquarters despite all weapons made available to them.

Robbers snatch grandpa’s vehicle, kill him after demanding for N1m
Sixty-five-old grandfather, Alhaji Ganiyu Jimoh, never failed to visit
his aged mother at Mushin area of Lagos on daily basis. But that
predictable routine might have cost him his life.
Without goodbyes to his wife, Risikat, without an inkling of what was about to befall him, Jimoh had set off from his house in Ikotun, around 5pm on Thursday, January 22, 2015, the usual time of his visit to Mushin.
But he was not located until the morning of Saturday, January 24. By that time, it was too late. His corpse was found in front of a newly constructed estate at the old National Youth Service Corps camp ground on the Isheri-Igando Road, Lagos
According to Jimoh’s widow, her husband, who was an accommodating man, never liked refusing a stranger a lift in his Lexus RX 300 SUV with registration number LND 740 CU.
She said this might have been how he was ‘trapped,’ by his assailants, who killed him after robbing him of the vehicle.
When our correspondent visited the deceased’s home at Ikotun, on Monday, the same day he was buried, the widow, who was surrounded by sympathisers, told our correspondent that she did not have an inkling that her husband of 36 years would die in the hands of armed robbers or kidnappers.
Fighting back tears, she told our correspondent how her husband left home on Thursday.
Risikat, who was sighing frequently and shaking her head in sadness during the interview, could not say much as grief overtook her.
N1m ransom demanded
But one of the deceased’s sons, Moshood, said when he received a call from Risikat (his step-mother) around 12am that day, he also called his father’s line many times which remained switched off until he tried again around 1am and it rang.
The following day, Saturday, the Igando Police Division, which had received the same alert, contacted the Ikotun station. A body had been found. The family would later visit the mortuary where the body was taken to and identified it as that of Alhaji Jimoh.
The deceased was not shot, he had no physical injury. He had been strangled, the police said.
Suspected killers’ accomplice in custody
Moshood told our correspondent that two weeks before the incident, his late father had come home after his usual visit to his mother at Mushin and told Risikat about his encounter with a young woman he gave a lift in his vehicle.
Moshood said,
The woman, who is now in police custody, told investigators that she wanted him to give her a lift to church.Moshood said he believed the woman had been in touch with his father ever since the first day he gave her a lift.
A police source told our correspondent that the woman was apprehended through information they found in a bible at the scene where Jimoh’s body was dumped.
When she was arrested, the woman said she only saw the men who took the deceased away but denied being an accomplice.
The suspect could not give an answer as to why she did not report the incident to the police until she was tracked to the white-garment church where she was apprehended on Saturday.
The police said her name and that of the church was found in the bible.
Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mr. Kenneth Nwosu, said the suspect had been transferred to the Department of Criminal Investigation for further investigation.

Fighting back tears, she told our correspondent how her husband left home on Thursday.
“There was nothing unusual about him leaving home around 5pm every evening. We all knew that when he did, it meant he was going to visit his mother at Mushin. When the deceased had not got home by 10pm, his wife called his line again, which rang without being answered. When she called 30 minutes later, it was switched off.
“But that day, he said he was going to collect his voter’s card at Alausa before heading to Mushin. Usually, when it was about 9pm, I called to ask whether he was on his way.
“That was what I did that day and he picked the phone to tell me that he was around the Jakande Estate gate at Isolo. That was his usual route and I estimated that in less than 15 minutes, he would have been home. I did not know that call to him was the last time I would hear his voice.”
“I tried every 30 minutes after that and I got no reply. I had started becoming unsettled because I knew it could not be that his battery was flat since he had a charger in his car,” the widow said. But when it was midnight and her husband’s number was still switched off, she alerted a next-door neighbour and called the deceased’s older children to inform them about what was happening.
Risikat, who was sighing frequently and shaking her head in sadness during the interview, could not say much as grief overtook her.

But one of the deceased’s sons, Moshood, said when he received a call from Risikat (his step-mother) around 12am that day, he also called his father’s line many times which remained switched off until he tried again around 1am and it rang.
Another member of the deceased’s family decided to call after that and got a more terrifying answer.
“Someone picked the call and immediately I heard the voice, I knew that was not my father. It was a baritone voice that bore no resemblance to my father’s.
“I said, ‘Daddy, where are you?’ and the person replied, ‘I am with my girlfriend.’ When I asked him where he was, he said Iyana-Iba (along the Lagos-Badagry Expressway). I decided to disconnect the call at that point and informed the family what I heard.”
“When one of my siblings called the line again, someone with the same baritone voice picked the call and said, ‘If you want to see this man again, you’d better come to Iyana-Iba with N1m.’ That was when we realised that the matter had gone beyond what we could handle alone. We then informed the police,” Moshood said.Saturday PUNCH learnt the police at the Ikotun Police Station where the matter was reported, radioed other police formations about the missing man.

He always came home to tell his wife whatever happened while he was away from home. The day he went missing, Saturday PUNCH learnt that the young woman, whose name the police have yet to release, called the deceased on the phone and told him to pick her up if he was going to pass through her route around Jakande Estate, where they had first met.
“Two weeks before he went missing, he told mama – my step-mother – that he gave a young woman a lift on his way back from Mushin and they spoke at length. He went as far as even saying that they exchanged numbers.
“Mama was angry when he told her that the lady even asked about how much he bought his car and he said he ordered it from the US for N1.6m. Mama had to call our younger siblings in the house to report to them that their father gave too much details about his life to strangers.”
The woman, who is now in police custody, told investigators that she wanted him to give her a lift to church.Moshood said he believed the woman had been in touch with his father ever since the first day he gave her a lift.

“The suspect said on their way to church, she told the deceased to stop the car so that she could buy fruit. She said when she made to intervene, the men told her they had no business with her and drove the deceased away in his own car.”

Many Actors Have Been Chased out of the Government House for Begging-Mr Ibu
John Okafor known as Mr Ibu has taken a swipe at the Actors Guild of
Nigeria, calling their leaders sycophants who chase after politicians for
favours ..He aired his views in a new interview with Thisday..
What do you think is the problem facing Nollywood industry?
What’s wrong in you being part of the AGN executives going to meet governors for assistance?
What do you think is the problem facing Nollywood industry?
Nollywood is suffering from so many problems. One of these problems is the sycophancy from the industry’s leaders, the people in power. I mean the people running the industry are just running after politicians. Nollywood as a whole don’t have good leaders. All they do is attach themselves to politicians and seek for political office instead of restructuring the industry. We don’t even have a standard office; we are not united and we are not financially structured. You can ask the upcoming stars how they cope; they will tell you the truth of what they pass through to have a role in a movie, especially the ladies. Some of them have abandoned their education to become movie makers. Our leaders are just using and dumping. I mean they are just using the upcoming artistes to act movies and achieve their aims. Sometimes they feature them in their movies without paying them.
Recently, the Akwa Ibom State Governor, His Excellency, Godswill Akpabio, donated N50million to Nollywood. But till date no one can give accurate account of how the money was shared. I, as Mr. Ibu, did not get a kobo from that money, talk less of others. Some people that claimed they are veterans in the industry just grabbed all the money and put it into their pocket. That is to tell you how greedy our leaders in the industry can be. They just went there collected the money and shared it among themselves. Without letting anybody know.
How do we go forward with that kind of attitude? We don’t have a secretariat; we don’t have a training centre for Nollywood. We don’t even have a school that young actors and actresses can benefits from. All they know is to run after governors and the president to collect money. Now, they are using the Actors Guild of Nigeria as another medium of collecting money from people. Is the guild not supposed to help its members? After all, members pay to register. Some female upcoming actresses even go out of their ways to look for money to join the AGN because they want to be connected.
What’s wrong in you being part of the AGN executives going to meet governors for assistance?
I don’t want to join those that bother the government. I don’t want to been seen as a beggar because I want a political appointment. I still want people to respect me, by letting my work to speak for me. I will only go to a Government House when I am invited by the Governor himself not to go and beg for a favour all in the name of AGN. I am from Enugu State. But do you believe I am not too close to my governor? I know I have been there twice. First time was when I went there to defend a tape in the press unit.
I didn’t even go to the governor’s main office. Second time was when my friend and my brother, Afam Okereke, was appointed as the SSA to the governor on media issues. And he invited me to come and celebrate with him. That is the second time I went to the office of the governor of my state. On my own, I have never visited the governor and I will never go begging for favour because I am a Nollywood actor or AGN member. I left AGN, for a better reason and I am not regretting it today.
But will you respond if the governor invites you?
Yes, I will respond; that is because I am invited by him. I am waiting for that day to come. But as for me to disguise as an AGN member or sycophant to seek for his assistance, that I cannot do and will never do. I don’t want to be embarrassed by any politician. I know many of my colleagues that they have chased out of the Government House because they were looking for assistance. I am a proud actor and I command respect for myself. I am not a broke ass. I am a famous actor –a very good one who earns a great pay. Why then should I belittle myself because I need attention or I am looking for financial assistance? It is not possible. If my governor needs me he will invite me, then, I will honour him.
‘I confessed to our pastor after every robbery operation’
29-year David Chineye was among eight suspected members of a
trans-border robbery gang arrested by the Lagos State Police Command
last week. The Imo State-born suspect who claimed to be married to a
Benin Republic-based Togolese, gave a startling confession on the gang’s
operation in Benin and Mali, during an exclusive interview with Crime Guard.
Chineye who admitted to be the gang’s informant, revealed that his union with his wife, made it easy for him to study the terrain in Cotonou, Benin Republic, thereby facilitating the gang’s entry into the country.
Members of his gang reportedly stormed a micro finance bank in Porto Novo, Benin Republic, last November, from where they carted away the equivalent of N100 million.
Chineye who gave his operational name as Ishola, said he masterminded the robbery operation at the financial institute, adding that it took him two days to study the terrain before inviting other members of the gang over. He further told Crime Guard that the gang was planning to extend its operations to Togo when they were arrested.
I go for confession after each operation
The father of one who was full of remorse said that his pastor and members of his church, whose name he gave as Christ Ascension Church, Benin Republic branch, would be shocked beyond imagination when news of his arrest reach them.
According to him:
At a point, he burst into tears, begging for his wife’s forgiveness when she hears about his involvement in crime. He stated that he never envisaged to go into robbery but that frustration forced him into it.
In his desperation to eke a living, he returned back to Nigeria last year, where he reportedly met members of another robbery gang. He confessed that he went on operation twice with the new gang but only got between N20,000 and N50,000 , an amount he said was not enough to meet his needs.
Continuing, he said :
Another suspected member of the gang, Ifeanacho Igwe (35), told Crime Guard that he was forced into robbery by one Nnamdi, whom he said invited him over after he requested financial assistance from him. The invitation according to Igwe, turned out to be his worst nightmare.

According to him:
“ I am a dedicated church worker. Nobody knew I was an armed robber. Every time I returned from any operation, my conscience would prick me. Thereafter, I would go to church for confession but would never disclose the exact sin I committed.Frustration led me into robbery
My wife didn’t know I was a robber either. This is because I stay in Benin Republic where she is permanently based for two months, before returning to Nigeria, where she believed I was working. I usually visited Benin Republic when we wanted to rob and would leave after investing my loot. This is to allow me get hints on the outcome of the operation, in terms of Police investigation.”
At a point, he burst into tears, begging for his wife’s forgiveness when she hears about his involvement in crime. He stated that he never envisaged to go into robbery but that frustration forced him into it.
“It all started after my apprenticeship in a pharmaceutical store, back in Owerri, the Imo state capital. My master refused to pay me off. Rather, he claimed that the money he ought to have settled me with was spent on the treatment of my ailing brother few months back. I left in anger and worked as a bus conductor until the engine of the bus got knocked.I graduated into Trans- border robbery
I was idle for some months, during which I met my wife who was visiting Nigeria for the first time. I went to Benin Republic with her, where I met some friends who introduced me into robbery. I started by breaking into peoples’ apartments, but it was not lucrative because at times, I won’t get anything from the houses”.
In his desperation to eke a living, he returned back to Nigeria last year, where he reportedly met members of another robbery gang. He confessed that he went on operation twice with the new gang but only got between N20,000 and N50,000 , an amount he said was not enough to meet his needs.
Continuing, he said :
“During one of our meetings, I told my members that we should step up by going to operate in Benin Republic, since their Police were not as effective as ours. The first operation was in a filling station in Benin Republic. It took me two days to survey the place before I invited members of the gang.Premonition
At the end of the operation, we lodged in a hotel there for two days, shared the loot before others left, while I stayed back. Three weeks later, as I was driving around Porto Novo, I saw a micro-finance bank. I studied the terrain that day and came back the next day to continue. I observed that policemen were not stationed there and that only unarmed private guards were there.
Quickly, I came to Nigeria to inform my members and left back for Benin Republic. Three days later, we struck at the bank and made away with N100 million equivalent.
During operation, we don’t use our real names. For instance, my operational name is Ishola. We have names like Mensah, Koffi, Messiah, master, etc. This is to give our victims the impression that we were from Benin Republic.
“ Joining a robbery gang is the worst mistake of my life. Had I known, I would have listened to my wife.I lost everything
Three days before I was nabbed, she told me she dreamed that I was arrested alongside other people for robbery and that I was killed in the process. Since then, she has been fasting and praying against sudden death. But I assured her all was well and that I was not into any dirty deal. If I had known I would have returned to Benin Republic , instead of remaining here in Nigeria.”
Another suspected member of the gang, Ifeanacho Igwe (35), told Crime Guard that he was forced into robbery by one Nnamdi, whom he said invited him over after he requested financial assistance from him. The invitation according to Igwe, turned out to be his worst nightmare.
According to him:
“ As a commercial motorcyclist, Nnamdi invited me to take him to a location, promising to give me some money I earlier requested for.
That was in 2011 But on reaching the location at Alakija bus-stop, it turned out to be a robbery operation scene. I couldn’t turn back because it was late and I was afraid they could kill me. I had no option than to play along. They succeeded in collecting N85 million from a victim and at the end I got N25 million. Since then, I cut off totally from them.
I lost everything I used that money on; I bought a new truck for N14 million and a commercial bus , including a sports utility vehicle for my personal use. I used the rest to renovate my mother’s house and support my siblings’ education.
Since that robbery operation my entire life has gone from bad to worse. I gave the truck out to a driver to use for transportation purpose. While on a business trip to the eastern part of the country, it rammed over someone before it somersaulted into a river, with goods worth several millions of naira. As if that was not enough, I am in the police net for a crime committed four years ago. My past sins have caught up with me,” he stated in an emotion- laden voice.

If Jonathan loses, Nigeria will break - Tompolo insists
Former

Government Ekpemupolo (aka Tompolo) has restated the resolve of the

In a statement released by his Media Adviser, Mr Paul Bebenimibo, in Warri yesterday January 29th, Tompolo attacked Gen Theophilus Danjuma for calling for his arrest alongside Asari Dokubo and other Niger delta warlords. He said the treaty that merged the Northern and Southern protectorate of Nigeria expired last year and everyone should be grateful to President Jonathan for keeping Nigeria together. "Gen.
Danjuma and his cohorts should know that I remain resolute on my
position in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, that President Goodluck Jonathan
must win this election for Nigeria to continue to stay together. Gen.
Danjuma should be reminded that the devilish treaty that brought the
Southern and Northern Protectorates together in 1914 expired last
year. Danjuma and his likes, such as Gen. Buhari, Gen. Obasanjo and Mr.
Bola Tinubu, should be grateful to President Jonathan who has been
keeping this country together. If
not for President Jonathan, Nigeria would not have been any
more. Danjuma and his cohorts should be reminded of the saying that
‘those who live in glass house should not throw stones’. The call by
Gen. T.Y Danjuma (rtd) to arrest me and other agitators for a better
living for the people of the Niger Delta region is an indication that he
is behind terrorism in the North eastern part of the country as well as
the stoning of President Jonathan’s convoy in Kastina and Bauchi
states, because he has never condemned those acts, even though Boko
Haram attacked churches and mosques in his home town. Is Gen. Danjuma
not aware of the peaceful atmosphere when Gen. Buhari visited Delta,
Rivers and Bayelsa (home state of the President) states for
campaign? Why is it that President Jonathan’s convoy was attacked in
Kastina and Bauchi states without any provocation? Who is Gen. Danjuma
if not for the oil wealth he is enjoying from the Niger Delta? He should
be rather arrested for being behind terrorism in the North. Where was
Danjuma when Mallam Ciroma Adamu threatened to make Nigeria
ungovernable, if President Jonathan defeated the All Progressive
Congress Presidential candidate, Gen. Muhammedu Buhari? Where was this
so called statesman when the APC campaign Director General (DG), Mr.
Rotimi Ameachi threatened to form a parallel government if President
Jonathan wins the 2015 elections? Where was this hypocrite when Dr.
Junaid Muhammed, Muhammedu Buhari and Atiku Abubakar all said in
separate interviews that the nation will boil if Jonathan won the
election in 2011? Is it the interest of Nigeria Gen. Danjuma is
protecting or his oil bloc in the Niger Delta? Is it the interest of
Nigeria Danjuma is protecting or his 50 million dollars donation to Gen.
Buhari for his campaign? Let Gen. Danjuma and his cohorts know that
they will not see any Ijaw man, the Igbos and others to fight on their
side if the war that they are planning broke up,”.
In a related development, the Ijaw
Youths Council (IYC), also released a statement signed by its
spokesman, Eric Omare yesterday January 29th where they faulted the call
by Gen Danjuma to arrest the Niger Delta ex-militants.
"We
are surprised that General Danjuma swiftly called for the arrest of
Tompolo, Asari and other Niger-Deltans, whereas he has neither condemned
nor called for the arrest of those who have been consistently attacking
the convoy of President Jonathan in the northern part of the country.
General Danjuma’s call is not deserving of an elder statesman who is
supposed to be unbiased rather than his obvious bias against the
Niger-Delta people. Only yesterday, in Gombe State a supporter of
President Jonathan who was pasting his posters was attacked and
seriously brutalised. Why has General Danjuma not condemned this
dastardly act if he is really an elder statement? There
was no time at the meeting the Governor of Bayelsa State, Hon. Seriake
Dickson, with youth leaders and ex-Niger Delta freedom fighters where it
was resolved that Niger Delta people would destabilise Nigeria, if
President Jonathan fails the February 14, 2015 presidential
election. This did not form part of the resolutions of the meeting,
which were read out by Hon. Kingsley Kuku for Governor Dickson to
transmit to Mr. President. The meeting was called by the Governor of
Bayelsa State, to solicit support for President Jonathan from
Niger-Delta youths and ex-freedom fighters. However, the meeting frowned
at and its dissatisfaction with the persistent attack on the campaign
convoy of President Jonathan in some northern states when General
Buhari, his main opponent, was protected and campaigned freely in the
south during his campaign tour. Hence, the meeting condemned in the
strongest terms the attack on President Jonathan and resolved that
nobody can intimidate President Jonathan out of the presidential race.
At the meeting, all the youth leaders and ex-Niger Delta freedom
fighters resolved to put their grievances aside and agree to work for
the re-election of President Jonathan. Therefore, the report on
ex-militants threatening to destabilise Nigeria in the event of
President Jonathan losing the 2015 election is not part of the
resolution of the meeting. The meeting could not have discussed that as
we are confident that President Jonathan would win the February 14, 2015 presidential
election. We, therefore, call on Nigerians and the security agencies to
disregard the call for arrest of Tompolo, Asari and others, which is
based on a misleading report. The accusation levelled against President
Jonathan by the APC is also unfounded,” the statement said.

Don't commit suicide by going to fight Boko Haram when you can't run-Sambo tells Buhari
Vice-President Namadi Sambo on Thursday advised the APC presidential candidate, against committing suicide by planning to personally lead the war against Boko Haram terrorists, if elected president.Sambo gave the advice at the PDP Presidential Rally in Yola, Adamawa asking how many meters Buhari can run..
He described the plan as a suicidal proposal, asking “will he (Buhari) go with a suicidal proposal?”
“I want to seize this opportunity to draw our attention to a publication, last week, credited to the vice-presidential candidate of the APC that their plan is to ask their presidential candidate, retired Maj-Gen. Buhari, to lead the war against Boko Haram.I want to ask you a question, a retired 73-year-old General ...can he run? No!
“Okay, let’s assume that he can run; how many metres can he run before he falls? The training of a General that retired in 1985 is it the same training that can address a modern war? No!
“Now we are fighting war with drones, with new ideas that our President, a PhD holder, a scientist that is using (his knowledge) to address the security issues of this country.

Why men REALLY think women want sex when they are only being friendly
This happens alot. You smile at a man, he thinks it means you want to go to bed with him. Meanwhile the woman interprets his advances as acts of friendship.Thankfully ,scientists now have an explanation for their behavior .. and it's all to do with how male brains have evolved to pick up on the wrong signals.Researcher Mons Bendixen from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU).,said
A man's ability to reproduce is all about seizing every opportunity. He has to spend both money and time on attracting women, which still may not lead to sex.But it costs even more to not try, because then he won't be able to reproduce at all.'But that's not how it works for women,'A woman can have sex with multiple men over a short period of time without producing any more children.
So for men, it is a low-risk, potentially high-reward situation to have sex with women whenever the opportunity presents itself.
Women's psychology, meanwhile, has evolved to set the bar higher. This means they need much clearer signals before they consider sex
In a recent study at NTNU, women said that they had acted friendly towards a man and had this misinterpreted as sexual interest about 3.5 times over the past year on average.
On the flip side, scientists found that women interpret the sexual intentions of other flirtatious women in the same way as men do.
Yet when they reported what their own intentions would be if they behaved in the same way, the women said they were far less likely to have sex with a man.

Buhari boycotts BON presidential debate
Muhammadu Buhari, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), will not be featuring in the presidential debate organised by the Broadcast Organisation of Nigeria (BON).
According Garba Shehu, directorate of media and publicity of the APC presidential campaign organisation, the boycott is due to the “unhidden bias and campaign of calumny by some key organisers of the programme, against the corporate political interest of the party (APC) and its candidates”.
cable.ng reports that, Shehu argued that the Nigeria Election Debate Group
(NEDG) powered debate was fraught with fundamental errors from the outset, by wearing the toga of government control, especially being composed mainly of agencies and allies of the incumbent Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) administration.
“A salutary inspection of the composition of NEGD brings into focus the Broadcasting Organisation of Nigeria (BON), National Television Authority (NTA), Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) and the Africa Independent Television (AIT, owned by a PDP chieftain),” he said.
“And going by the avalanche of inflammatory statements, misinformation and blatant lies being propagated by some of these media against our party and candidates contrary to the Koffi Annan-brokered Abuja Peace Accord, and the
failure of these aggressors to desist and apologise, have left
the APC campaign with no option than to steer clear of any premeditated smear campaign that could be inimical to our prospective electoral success.”
He urged the public not to see the APc boycott as disrespect for Nigerian voters or an alibi for the party to dodge public scrutiny, but to view it as an honourable right not to consent to any activity that could distract, demean, denigrate or derail the fast-moving train of the party.
He described APC as a party of progressive intellectuals, genuine technocrats, successful businessmen and women, and most of all eminent and courteous people of honour who would never condescend to the level of sadistic gutter propaganda, all in the name of political exigency and crass opportunism.
He also noted that many government-controlled media have clipped the wings of APC promotional advertisements on one excuse on the other, and until a court upturned their decision recently, the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) shut down some telecom portals for soliciting legitimate campaign funds from members of the public for APC.
“Aside, elements close to sitting President Goodluck Jonathan have commissioned series of derogatory and death threat advertorials against the person, family and
associates of the opposition leader, General Muhammadu Buhari, to which the APC had sent letters of complaint to the Inspector General of Police, the Director General of State Security, Advertisers Practitioners of Nigeria (APCON), Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the erring media that published or aired such offensive adverts or documentaries,” he said.
“None of our letters of protest has been attended to by the authorities. So whatever the incumbent president wants to do with the instrument of state to harass members of the opposition into humiliating submission would not work. The APC/Buhari campaign is now a people’s movement. The more they try to rubbish it, the more popular we are with the populace.
“We are not shadow-chasers or moonwalkers. The APC is concerned mainly with the lack of unity and security in Nigeria; plus the growing decimation of lives, property and territory of our great country due to preventable insurgency; the slumbering economy; decaying educational system; absence of jobs; poor public health; and the cancerous institutionalisation of corruption in our national life. You can’t fool the people all the time. Nigerians will vote out their oppressors come February 14.”

Husband jailed for beating up wife after other men looked at her boobs
Bully husband Graham Temple beat his wife when other men looked at her cleavage.
May Thomson, 45, lived in fear of her life as insecure Temple flew into jealous rages when she showed off her 32E breast implants.During their three years together, Temple broke her nose, threatened her with a knife, held her by the throat and punched her on her breasts.
He threw a kitchen chair at her when she came down stairs wearing shorts and a vest top, the Daily Record reports.
“I wasn't allowed to wear anything like that,He had me in polo necks.”
Thomson, who has two daughters and lives in Port Seton, East Lothian, already had the £5,000 implants when she met Temple. They got together after she had escaped from another abusive relationship.
“He came across as caring and romantic. I saw him as protection because I knew he could fight.”
Two months in and Temple's controlling, violent side began to show. He would throw her on the floor and stand over her, spitting in her face. Any kind of attention from other men, or comments on her appearance or figure, would spark another attack.
Thomson was knocked unconscious when Temple threw her against a table in a drunken rage. She was treated for bruising at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.
“He was out of his face. He started asking, what were you doing when you weren't with me? I told that shouldn't matter. He grabbed me by the hair and started beating my head. He butted me. Next thing I knew, I woke up on the floor.”
In another incident he held her captive and refused to let her leave the house.
“He wouldn't let me out. I got battered senseless until I escaped in my pyjamas.” Thomson needed plastic surgery on the injuries to her face.
When she found a hose pipe, duct tape a plastic bottle and a Stanley knife the boot of his car, she became convinced he was trying to kill her.
The relationship finally ended when Temple attacked Thomson's dog Zero, for eating his chicken fajitas.
“I thought, you're going to really hurt me now. You've done that to my animal.”
Sheriff Peter Braid described the case as “a particularly nasty instance of domestic abuse” and jailed him for 13 months.
Temple is banned from going near Thomson for five years.

Winners Chapel reacts to controversy surrounding Oyedepo's prayer for President Jonathan
After the controversy surrounding president Jonathan's visit to the
Living Faith Church last Sunday, the church has issued a release,
slamming the rumours as false
Our attention has been drawn to a statement credited to the President and founder of the Living Faith Church worldwide, also Known as Winners’ Chapel, Bishop David Oyedepo, which has gone viral.
He was reported to have made the statement last Sunday when the
President of the federal republic of Nigeria, Dr. Goodluck Ebele
Jonathan came to worship at Faith Tabernacle, which is the headquarters
of the ministry.
The falsehood that is being spread around by mischief makers is that the Bishop, while praying for the President, said,
Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, who is also the presidential candidate of the ruling party – the PDP, came to the church as the President of this country, not as a candidate in the forthcoming elections. And Bishop Oyedepo prayed for him, as instructed in the Bible book of 1 Timothy 2:1-2, as the President of Nigeria not as a PDP standard-bearer.
The falsehood that is being spread around by mischief makers is that the Bishop, while praying for the President, said,
“I will open the gates of hell to anyone who oppose you.” A little later, some others who in an attempt to “defend” the Bishop, came up with another quote purportedly said by Dr. Oyedepo, which is: “I will open the gates of hell to those who oppose the peace of this nation.”Well, let’s set the records straight: The Press and Publicity Unit of the church, publishers of Faith Tabernacle News, was at the 3rd service and recorded (on tape), the President’s 6-minute speech, the congregational prayer for him and the Bishop’s blessing on the President.
We Saw Helicopters Dropping Arms, Food For Boko Haram -Suvivors
Displaced residents of Monguno, in Borno State, which was recently taken over by Boko Haram, have said they saw helicopters dropping arms and food items for the insurgents in the bushes.
According to Leadership.ng, The IDPs, who said they spent about 48 hours in the bush running towards Maiduguri, expressed worry that the Boko Haram sect was not the only ones involved in the insurgency, but that there are many foreign fighters and some external supports.
Leader of the Nigeria Vigilante Group in Monguno, Muhammed Sani,50, said he had, on several occasions, spotted unusual delivery of items in big wooden boxes by air, and sacks being dropped in the bushes around Marte and Monguno where Boko Haram terrorists were camped.
“Even during the attack on Monguno, there was an aircraft that came but did not do anything, not even dropping a single bomb before it left; then another one later came around the Monguno barracks and we saw four men alighting from the aircraft, using a rope. The aircraft left, but we doubt if they were soldiers.
“Even before then, some of my colleagues and I have been sighting helicopters dropping items in sacks and some in boxes to them at the camp of Boko Haram near Chikungudu and Kwalaram villages. Many helicopters came to drop items packed in boxes and sacks to the Boko Haram insurgents at a bush camp between Monguno and Marte; then we would see the Boko Haram gunmen rushing to the spot to pick the dropped items,” he stated.
The displaced vigilante officials said those that attacked Monguno comprised hundreds of foreigners who looked like Chadians.
“Many of them looked like Chadian Arabs – they were light-skinned with coiled hair, and there were many young men from Monguno – who Boko Haram had abducted when Nganzai was attacked last year – that were now active members of the sect.
“While Boko Haram members that are former youths of Monguno were leading other insurgents to attack Monguno town, the foreigners were the ones engaging soldiers near the barracks,” he explained.
Sani, who said he had lived in Monguno for the past 20 years, said he fled amidst the hail of bullets when the terrorists became irritated by his anti-bullet charms that rendered bullets ineffective. His shirt and trousers were riddled by bullets, yet he remained unhurt, he said

Demolition exersice turns bloody in Enugu
Uneasy calm is now building up at Ngwo near Enugu, the Enugu State capital, following the alleged killing of two persons by the police during a demolition exercise in the area alleged to have been ordered by the state government.
The incident occurred at Ugwuomu-Ngwo, Oria Inye Bunker on Monday when properties worth N100 million were pulled down.
Maka Ndigbo gathered that on Monday, a police van with description ‘Distress Call B, Department, Police headquarters, was seen carrying one dead body with mobile policemen armed to the teeth to the state police headquarters.
It was further learnt that on Friday, January 16, 2015, at about 11:30 a m, one Aric Chime was said to have led a team of policemen numbering over 15 with bulldozer and excavator, in company of staff of Enugu State Capital Territory Development Authority, to the area in order to pull down storey buildings in the absence of the occupants.
One of the victims narrated to Nigerian Tribune
“We reported to the Ngwo community and on Monday morning, they mobilised and came to the scene protesting and in a bid to stop further demolition of peoples’ houses, suddenly policemen numbering over 50 stormed the place shooting sporadically and in the process, two people were killed”.
Another victim, who gave his name as Ezekiel Iwuorie, said that he was at Ogbete Market where his neighbour called and informed him that his house had been pulled down by one Aric Chime.
According to him, he was not given any notice by anybody or court to leave or vacate his house which he bought as land from Ngwo community.
“In 2013, one Aric Chime sought injunction from Enugu Magistrate Court stopping me from completing my storey building, which at the time, was at the plastering stage. He claimed that he bought the entire area from the Federal Government, courtesy of BPE. However, when the case started, he absconded and a judgment went in my favour to complete the house.
“So, I was shocked to see my house completely demolished with all I had achieved for years destroyed without notice to vacate the house. This matter is still at the Federal High Court where the Ngwo community said they did not know him as the land belonged to them. The case was also at the state High Court precisely at court 11. The matter came up on December 17, 2014 and the said Aric Chime wasn’t in the court”.
Efforts to hear the side of Aric Chime were not fruitful as he refused to answer calls from his GSM phone. But the state commissioner of police, Adamu Abubakar, who declined to comment on the alleged murder case, agreed that he only deployed his men to quell what he described as violent attack by Ngwo community on one Aric Chime’s company at the complex of the defunct Nigeria Coal Corporation, Enugu.

But the state commissioner of police, Adamu Abubakar, who declined to comment on the alleged murder case, agreed that he only deployed his men to quell what he described as violent attack by Ngwo community on one Aric Chime’s company at the complex of the defunct Nigeria Coal Corporation, Enugu.
lil Wayne Sues Cash Money For $51million
Wow! Who would have thought they would fall out? Lil Wayne has made good on his promise to go after Cash Money ... because he's filed a lawsuit asking a judge to end his contract with Birdman's label.
According to the lawsuit, obtained by TMZ, Wayne says Birdman and company violated the deal by withholding tens of millions of dollars Cash Money owes him for his long-delayed album, "Tha Carter V."
Wayne claims because Cash Money is refusing to pay, he's entitled to walk.
But Lil Wayne wants more than just a declaration of freedom. He's suing for $51 MILLION.And Wayne wants the judge to declare he's the joint copyright owner of all Young Money recordings ... which includes Drake, Nicki Minaj and several others.
Sources connected to Wayne tell TMZ ... if Birdman antes up then he can release "Tha Carter V," but only if Wayne gets paid. Wayne says he was supposed to get an $8 million advance when he began recording in December, 2013 and another 2M when he completed the album a year later, but so far he's gotten nothing.

Awww! Man tries to sell his virginity for £700,Doesn't get a SINGLE offer
A debt-ridden Romanian man proved to be unlucky in love after trying to sell his virginity for £700 - and failing to receive a single offer.
Seb Ciercies was left baffled by the lack of interest having described himself in a local newspaper as 'Athletic, toned and dark-haired'.
The 29-year-old virgin conceded that he was 'no Brad Pitt' after his money-making plan flopped - but expressed surprise that nobody wanted to 'try out' his 'great body'.
Mr Ciercies had announced his intentions to sell his virginity to any takers in Brasov, a city in central Romania - making it clear that transport was 'not included'. Keen to secure an early sale, he did not specify whether buyers should be male or female.
He wrote:
'Man, 29, Brasov. Athletic and toned, dark haired. I'm selling my virginity. Price: 850 Euros. Transport not included.'
But weeks after placing the advert, aimed at clearing mounting debts, Mr Ciercies was still no closer to abandoning his virtue - and had not had even one response from a potential buyer.
He said:
'I don't understand it. I'm a good looking guy with a good physique. I thought someone might even offer me more.
'I'm healthy, I'm no Brad Pitt but I'm not ugly either. I forgot to specify male or female in the ad and I didn't even get any gay takers.
'It doesn't do much for your self-esteem to be rejected by absolutely everybody in the world.'
Seb took out the ad to pay off debts he has run up through unemployment and having to care for his diabetic brother.
He said: 'I've worked hard in the fields and in farms all my life. It's tough work but it has given me a great body. I thought people would be keen to try it out.'

Why We Cheat on our spouses -Abuja Residents
Some married people in Abuja have opened up on why they cheat on their spouses..Read their responses as recorded by (NAN)
Mr Johnson Eze, a civil servant, said he was cheating on his wife not because he loved her less but for the sole purpose of “catching some fun’’.
“My marriage is one of the best because my wife, who is God-given, is an understanding woman and she tolerates me a lot.“Yet, I still find myself cheating on her just for the fun of it.
This does not in any way diminish the love I have for her and my lovely kids.I recall an incident that happened some time ago. I told my wife that I was travelling to Calabar for an official assignment, but ended up with my girlfriend in a hotel, and she found out.
“The incident almost destroyed my home but thanks to God my wife was able to forgive and forget put the ugly incident behind, ‘’ he said.
Eze, who described infidelity as `a careless act,’ advised men to desist from it.A female boutique operator, who pleaded anonymity, said the desire to keep up with the latest fashion trend made her to cheat on her husband.
According to her, the husband, a low income earner, was financially incapable of meeting her insatiable material needs.
“Besides, my hubby and I fight over things that are not relevant and I lie to him most times to raise extra cash to buy something, which he considers unnecessary.
“I have not been faithful in my marriage because of the temptation to stay on top of the fashion trend which is way beyond the financial capacity of my husband.
“Besides the extra cash my boyfriend gives me, whenever I want to collect money from my husband for food stuff and other basic necessities I always double the cost.
“This has become a habit for me and whenever I don’t get my share in any shopping I do on behalf of the family, I get angry and pick on my husband at any little provocation, ‘’ she added.
A legal practitioner who offered a coined name – Mr Kosi Chiemela – blamed his adulterous actions on lack of intimacy, emotional disconnection and lack of friendship with his wife.Chiemela who described marriage as
“one difficult school you cannot graduate from till you die,’’ stated that the only way to escape was to stay single.
“I am a temperamental person and when I newly got married, it was not easy for my wife whose temper is also short.
“Both of us hardly agree on anything and the only escape route for me is to seek love and affection elsewhere.
“My girlfriend understands me and she tolerates a lot, unlike my wife who blows up like a bomb at the slightest provocation,’’

Kidnappers threaten to turn 15-yr old girl to a se.x slave is $100k ransom isn't paid..
The Niger Republic-based kidnappers who abducted a 15-year-old schoolgirl, Precious Okoro, have said if her family refuses to pay $100,000 ransom, she would be made to work for it.
The victim’s mother, Blessing, while appealing to the government for help, said her family had become bankrupt as a result of expenses. She added that relatives and friends had abandoned them as they now struggled to feed.
Punch Metro had reported on Tuesday how Precious was kidnapped at the Ajah area of Lagos State en route to her school in Ikenne, Ogun State.

Two months after the disappearance of the victim, the kidnappers were said to have called his father and demanded a ransom of $100,000 (N19.1m).
Punch Metro reported that Precious had not been found despite efforts by the police.
Her mother, Blessing, said the kidnappers threatened to turn her daughter to a sex slave if the money was not produced.
“We still spoke with her a few days ago and we begged the abductors to release her. They said we should pay N18m, later they reduced it to N500, 000 and at another time, they said we should pay any amount.
“When we begged them, they said if we don’t pay the money, she will work for the money. We don’t know what they mean by that, whether they want to turn her into a prostitute. A J.S.S. 3 girl that has just registered for her final junior exams, what does she know?People have abandoned us because of this incident and we are so confused.”
Precious’s father, Nwaigwe, said his business had closed down and his children were no longer going to school.
He said,
“I am no more myself since my daughter got missing. I have spent so much money on travels without any result. To eat has been difficult. My kids are no more going to school.I am appealing to the government and good Nigerians to assist me.”
PUNCH Metro learnt that some of the suspects arrested by the police were already threatening to sue for the infringement on their fundamental human rights.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Lagos State Command, Kenneth Nwosu, said he would get back to our correspondent, but had yet to do so as of press time.
