'Old women still have sexual urges' - actress Taiwo Ajai-Lycett says

While promoting her stage play, Hear Word, where she plays a sexually active old woman, veteran actress Taiwo Ajai-Lycett, said old people still enjoy sex and some are quite sexually active.

"I am an old woman in the play and in real life. I am 73. The society doesn't think older women exist anymore, nobody thinks they feel anything. The people around old women never realize they are going through a turmoil, nobody cares about them. So what I am trying to portray is that it's not over until it is over. That an old woman is still alive in more ways than one, they still have sexual urges, people forget an old woman is human. An old woman enjoys her sexual life more when she no longer thinks about children's school fees, when the children have all gone to their husband's houses or in some cases the boys have married and it remains only the old woman and her husband. It never crosses our mind that these old parents can still get on whenever they like. Do you know that when an old man realizes he is free from child bearing, he becomes promiscuous and they are susceptible to all kinds of diseases. But the old woman is confined to a corner in the house, nobody thinks she is still actually active" she said

Presidential fact-finding committee visit Chibok

Members of the presidential fact-finding committee on the abducted Chibok school girls yesterday May 29th paid a visit to Chibok community. In a statement signed by the committee spokesman, Kingsley Osadolor, the committee met with some officials of the Borno state government, including the Borno State Commissioner for Education, Musa Kubo, Chairman of Chibok Local Government, Bana Lawan, five district heads of the surrounding communities, Chairman of the Parent Teachers Association of the Government Girls Secondary School Chibok, the principal, parents of the abducted girls and some of the girls who escaped were all present at the meeting.

Read part of the statement after the cut...where's the pic of them there though?
"Members of the committee visited the burnt-out structures of Government Secondary School, where the girls were abducted. The receiving party conducted members of the committee round the grounds of the school. The principal, vice principals, matrons of the hostels, as well as security guards and cooks were earlier debriefed by the committee in Maiduguri. The committee later held an interactive session with the Chibok communities on the school premises. At the meeting, Chairman of the Fact-finding Committee, Brig.-Gen. Ibrahim Sabo (retd.), who spoke with misty eyes, said the committee came, first, to sympathise with the parents and other community members over the havoc of the insurgents. He assured the people of President Goodluck Jonathan’s concern about the fate of the abducted students, saying that the President was having sleepless nights. As we gather here today to see you wailing, by the grace of God, we will also gather here to dance and rejoice with you when the girls regain their freedom" it read
The spokesperson of the committee said the people were elated to see them and asked that their message of hope and belief that the girls would be found be delivered to the President. He said one of the fathers whose 2 daughters are still in Boko haram captivity, Rev. Enoch Mark asked that people should stop politicizing the missing Chibok girls and also stated that the abduction was not a religious thing as both religions were affected by the abduction.

N49.8b: Senate report clears NNPC, Deziani, says no money missing

The Senate Committee on Finance which investigated the NNPC over allegations of fraud leveled against it by the suspended Governor of the Central Bank, Mallam Lamido Sanusi, today Wednesday May 28th submitted its report to the Senate saying no funds were missing, The Will Nigeria reports.

Sanusi had spuriously claimed in a leaked letter to President Goodluck that $49.8 billion in crude oil revenue was missing.
The detailed report according to sources at the Senate also cleared the NNPC and the Ministry of Petroleum of any wrong doing.
The report however directed the NNPC and the Ministry of Finance as well as other relevant agencies to reconcile a sum believed to be around $300 million dollars.

THEWILL can also report that the Senate said the suspended Governor of the Central Bank was hasty and got his figures wrong.

The report further recommended the immediate passage of the Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB) as the Minister of Petroleum, Mrs. Deziani Allison-Madueke continues to sanitise the industry.

The Senate Committee on Finance is under the chairmanship of Senator Ahmed Mohammed Makarfi (Kaduna PDP).  The committee took about 5 months to complete its assignment.

National Conference delegates vote to tax churches, mosques

Delegates at the ongoing National Conference yesterday May 27th voted unanimously for churches & mosques to pay taxes. The delegates arrived at the decision after deliberating on recommendations made by the Committee on Religion.
A delegate representing Civil Organizations, Mallam Naseer Kura, during the deliberation observed that most religious leaders in Nigeria are now making a lot of money from their organizations and so should be taxed accordingly.
Supporting his arguement, Isaac Ighure a delegate representing the Nigeria Guild of Editors, in his submission said most religious leaders had so much money now to buy jets while their followers are living in abject poverty and asked that they should be made to pay taxes. "Some people buy private jets when people in their churches are suffering and living in abject poverty, they should be made to pay taxes,” he said.

The recommendations to pay tax will be submitted to the National Assembly at the end of the conference and if accepted by the National Assembly, it would then be passed into law. Who agrees that religious organizations should pay tax?

Wahala dey o! Rick Ross tattoos 'Rich Forever' on his chin...:-)

Rapper Rick Ross, who is worth roughly about $30million, shared a pic on his instagram page yesterday showing his new chin tattoo...he tattooed the phrase 'Rich Forever' on his face...

He's being massively criticized for it with one fan writing "He's not rich enough that he doesn't have to worry about money for the rest of his life. The way he spends it he may be broke soon...the life of a rapper is short lived" but I guess it's a good thing, the tat will remind him for a long time to spend money wisely so he can live up to the phrase on his face. I'm sure he wouldn't want to one day change it to 'Used to be rich!" lol

"It is bad to abuse the President"-Patience Jonathan

While addressing children  to mark the 2014 Children’s Day at the Presidential Villa, Abuja  today, the First lady, Dame Patience used the opportunity to tell Nigerian to desist from abusing the president and the country..She said..
“It is bad to abuse our country and the President because God has made him the head. The Almighty God commands us to pray for our leaders. We therefore need to pray for the development of our country and the president.Remember that a child that abuses his father and mother is disobeying God’s commandment because the Bible says in Exodus 20:12 that you should honour your father and mother so that you may live long in the land that the Lord your God has given you. The Holy Bible is not referring to only biological parents. Any one that is older than you even for a day must be respected. Let us therefore join hands and rebuild our country Nigeria.”
.She also replied the children who handed a letter to her to give Boko Haram...Continue..

Let me thank the children that gave me letter to give Boko Haram. Well, I have received your letter, but I am not the one to give it to Boko Haram because I don’t know Boko Haram and I have never seen Boko Haram. But I will give it to the NSS or Chief of Defence Staff who will submit your letter accordingly.
To my children parliament, thank you for your letter. Thank you for your deliberation. I have received what you gave to me. I will make sure I pass it to the President because it is addressed to him and the other one is addressed to Boko Haram. That is why the two are different.”q

Britain's most dangerous prisoner smeared himself in butter and attacked 12 guards after Asernal won the Fa cup

Britain’s most notorious prisoner Charles Bronson ‘smeared himself in butter before taking on 12 prison guards’ after Arsenal won the FA Cup.The 61-year-old Tottenham Hotspur fan, who is branded Britain's most violent and dangerous prisoner, and serving a life sentence for robbery and kidnap at Full Sutton Prison in York, covered himself in butter - supposedly making it harder for guards to restrain him – before going on the rampage on May 17.He was left with broken ribs after the scuffle..

According to Daily Mirror ,Bronson has spent the last 40 years in jail with 36 of those years spent in solitary confinement due to his 'aggression'.He was first jailed in 1974, aged 22, for an armed robbery on a post office and his jail time has been repeatedly extended for various crimes including taking prisoners hostage.Over the years, he has been involved in at least ten jail sieges and the outbursts have seen him moved 150 times.

He was given a life sentence in 1999 for holding a prison art teacher hostage for 44 hours for criticising some of his sketches.CCTV footage showed him leading his victim around like a dog with a rope around his neck. He has become a prolific artist during his time inside and, controversially, his surreal multi-coloured drawings have sold for up to £1,000 and been displayed in galleries across London.
He once boasted: ‘I’ve had more hostages than Saddam Hussein’

"Last Warning"-Students Flee as Boko Haram sends bloody letter to Adamawa State University(Photo)

The students of Adamawa state University are in fear after they have received several letters over the past two weeks, from who they believe are boko haram.Initially they felt it was a prank until the latest letter which was attached with a pound of flesh and dripping blood.

A source has told SaharaReporters that the letters are believed to be real, coming directly from Boko Haram.

The students are now living in fear. Most of those who use the only hostel available to men have not slept there over the past weekend.  The hostel, also known as ‘Barde Hall, was nearly empty of students beginning on Saturday evening.  Barde Hall, is also popularly known as "256" by many in the student body. It is a popular ‘hang out’ spot for many of the students attending. It is also seen as a safe space, and resting place, that normally has scores of students milling around outside during the academic year. Many of the students did not sleep, or ‘hang out’ at the hostel on Saturday night. It was ghostly quiet.

A student also said that the atmosphere at the hostel worsened on Sunday night. In room A5, a student confided that, he was the only person that slept the night in his room.Another student said that many of the occupants had fled to the nearby town to seek shelter instead, where they believe it to be a much safer place.
Yet, the tension Monday morning picked-up, when students in Barde Hall awoke and found a letter placed on a wall that was written in the Hausa language. The letter, when translated into English, reads, "Last warning."But this time around, it had a pound of flesh clipped to the letter. It dripped with blood, and was described as somewhat black in colour, though looking as if it was not long since this section of human flesh it was cut off.
This caused panic among many of the students at the hostel. The Vice Chancellor according to a SaharaReporters source reportedly insisted that nothing will change with the school's academic calendar. Strangely, the students were told that their exams will be held as earlier scheduled.
As it stands now, many of the Adamawa State University students have packed their bags, and also, reportedly, packing out of the hostel.
The "256" is in a place many of the departing students feel is especially vulnerable, in large part because, physically, it is isolated, and neighbored by bush, with just a few farms located behind the building. In short, for many it is too easy a target with a school administration almost detached from their concerns over whether the threatening letters received are real, or not.

'There are plans to bring down my government' - President Jonathan

Speaking during the 2014 Democracy Day Interdenominational Church Service in Abuja yesterday Sunday May 25th, president Jonathan said there are evil people that are trying to bring down his government and they are the ones behind the violence in Nigeria, Punch reports.
"You can imagine if this government had not been facing these distractions within this period, definitely, we would have moved farther than this. All these distractions are planned to bring this government down and since they failed, terror will also fail.
“We have been witnessing terror attacks for two years plus, but the Chibok incident has added a major dent on the security of the country. There is nothing God cannot do. With your prayers, our girls will be seen by our security personnel. Terror will not stop this country from progressing. We know that these terrorists are human and they are evil men. Definitely, they are among those we categorise as evil forces.

Forces of evil will never prevail. Forces of darkness will never prevail. I call on all Nigerians, Christians and non-Christians who pray, to continue to pray and I beli

How man who challenged Jos Suicide Bomber died in blast meant to kill 400 football fans(Photo)

Contrary to reports that only the bomber died in a failed attempt in Jos on Saturday,4 people actually lost their lives .That night, Over 400 football fans fans gathered to watch the EUFA Championship League match between Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid.Three people were confirmed dead on the spot in the blast while the fourth died on Sunday morning thus raising the death toll to four

According to Punch, One of the football lovers at the centre, Muhammed Ibrahim, said over 400 youths were watching the match when the incident happened.

“The viewing centre is large. Television sets were placed at various points and it was crowded and in fact, over 400 of us would have been killed had the bomber succeeded,”
Another witness, Alhaji Garba Ahmad, who said he lost his senior brother, Bello, in the blast, said the bomber had first attempted to enter the viewing centre but was prevented by a barricade erected along the road....He continued..

“He then turned back and tried to enter through a garage, but also encountered a wall between the centre and the garage,”
He added that in frustration, the bomber packed the car, a Honda Odyssey, in front of a house.

“When we saw the car, unusually packed in front of our house, my brother challenged him. He told my brother that his car had a fault and wanted to repair it. My brother then asked him to take the car away. Sensing something unusual I went inside and asked all the members of our family to leave the house. Just as my brother was persuading the man to leave our premises, he (the bomber) entered the car and immediately he started it. It exploded and killed my brother, his son and his friend.”
It was also gathered that the bomber had gone to the viewing centre earlier in the day.

An official of the National Emergency Management Agency, Mr. Mohammed Suleiman, told our correspondent that the agency received a distress call at about 9 pm on Saturday and immediately rushed to the scene to carry out a search and rescue operation. He said that three people died on the spot, while the body of the fourth person was discovered on Sunday morning.

Yet another revolt at 7th Army Division in Borno state

Just a week after soldiers at the 7th Division in Maimalari Baracks in Maiduguri, Borno state revolted against their former General Officer Commanding, Major General Ahmadu Mohammed, the soldiers yesterday May 22nd revolted again at their newly posted GOC, Brigadier General M.Y. Ibrahim over unpaid allowances and ban on transportation services, Sahara Reporters reports.
Reports say at about 3pm yesterday, the soldiers gathered together and marched to the new GOC's office, shooting into the air and chanting "we nor go gree" songs. The soldiers were demanding for their unpaid furniture allowance which is N100,000 and other allowances as well as the reinstatement of Okada and Tricycle means of transportation which was banned by the new GOC. Continue...

The soldiers wondered why Okada and Keke Napep would be banned in the barrack since its the only affordable means for them and their families to move around considering the vast expanse the barracks occupies, and most of them don't own cars.

One of the soldiers told Sahara Reporters “If no okada [motorcycles] are allowed, then our small children have to walk to school and our wives will walk to market. Are we not suffering too much already?” he said.
At the office of the GOC, they ordered one of the Army Generals to walk around the barracks to feel their pain, pushing and shoving him intermittently.
This revolt is coming just a week after the soldiers in the Malmalari barracks revolted against their former GOC on May 14th, shooting at his convoy. He has since been redeployed to a different base and investigations on the mutiny according to Military heads is ongoing to ensure the soldiers who revolted are disciplined accordingly.

5 Things Nigerian Women Do That Really Annoy Nigerian Men.... Do you Agree?

Nigerian women too dey form. Yes, there are certain things men do that really bother women, but ladies, here's what you people do that really annoys us:

  • 1. When you tell us what qualities you like in a man, but the men you date are entirely different than what you claim you want.
This is frustrating. Any woman will tell you what they want in a man. However, their response is usually bullshit. Instead, they tell you what is socially acceptable to want. So many women get involved with men who make them unhappy for various and obvious reasons.
For example, many women date men who are jerks. However, you’ll probably never meet a woman
who will tell you how much they love men who treat them poorly, because it is not socially acceptable to want to be with someone like that. Some women may justify their interest in “jerkish” men by indicating that being treated poorly somehow makes the man seem like a “badass”. However, after a breakup, the same women will typically whine and complain about how there is a lack of good men in existence after dealing with these terrible men.
In this case, the problem isn’t the man so much as it is a woman’s poor taste/judgment of men. Don’t get me wrong. I know terrible men exist, but every woman has the common sense and the ability to wait for a decent guy; when you meet one, you should actually give him a chance. So wait. Good people (both male or female) are so much more worth it for the same reason gold is so valuable: rarity.

  • 2. When you try to change a man.
Look. We get it. You’re attracted to a specific guy, but unfortunately, he doesn’t fit the bill of what you want in terms of his personality, his ideals, and the way he acts. Many women claim, “I’m going to change him”, but this rarely works.
Change in a man occurs the same way evolution does: either a drastic event causes it (mutation in the case of evolution), or it happens EXTREMELY slowly over a VERY long period of time. Unless you are the most patient person ever, I suggest you move on and find someone else.

  • 3. You like it when a guy you’re interested in becomes jealous when you receive attention from other guys.
My advice to you on rectifying this one is simple. Grow up. Men get extremely annoyed when women purposefully try to make a guy jealous. Be straightforward. If you like a guy, tell him. The only person complicating things in this situation is you.

  • 4. When a woman acts like a “princess.”
This one peeves me greatly. Girls who act as if they deserve to be treated like a princess are nothing less than narcissistic.
It’s perfectly reasonable to hope (and expect) a decent guy to treat you that nicely, but to go around calling yourself a princess and acting like you’re entitled to be treated that way is just really annoying and sad. Stop it. If anything, you deserve it much less than a girl who is decent and humble.

  • 5. When a woman acts/is dependent on a man.
Most men prefer women who know how to be independent. Men do not like women who are clingy, nor do they like women who don’t know how to take care of themselves. Learn to be you. Learn to be the best you that you can be. You will love your self so much more for doing so, and the right guys will respect you for it.

Stealing is not corruption, says ICPC Chairman

The Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) chairman, Mr. Ekpo Nta recently agreed to a statement made by President Jonathan during his May 4th media chat that, stealing is not corruption.

While addressing members of  the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria, COREN, at the ICPC Headquarters' in Abuja, Mr Nta said there is a difference between stealing and corruption  and it is wrong to classify theft as corruption. He said that we should refer back to what we were taught about stealing and corruption in school
"Stealing is erroneously reported as corruption. We must go back to what we were taught at school to show that there are educated people in Nigeria. We must address issues as we were taught in school to do".

He likened the misunderstanding of stealing and corruption to the mindset of the ordinary Nigerian who believes a roadside mechanic is also an engineer. Really? These people are strange!!!

"I foresaw Borno state govt hand in girl's abduction" Primate Ayodele

Speaking about the state of the nation, the Boko Haram menace and foreign intervention, Primate Elijah Babatunde Ayodele, the Founder/Spiritual Head of Inri Evangelical Church, Lagos, in a press statement released a few weeks ago said the Nigerian govt shouldn't trust America, that he foresaw Borno state government's hand in the abduction of Chibok girls and that a sect deadlier than  Boko Haram will rise. Excerpts from his predictions below...

"We have said it before that there would be foreign intervention in the fight against Boko Haram. We said it before that Nigerian Government was incapable of defeating the sect all alone. I still foresee Boko Haram attacking major government buildings and high rise buildings around Nigeria. Even Aso Rock is not safe. Boko Haram is not alone in the terror act. There are three major sects involved in fighting the government and what they are fighting for is the disintegration of Nigeria and people sponsoring the programme are within and outside the country and are in President Jonathan's government. Let the Govt take the warnings from God serious on all matters. Nigeria's Vice President, Namadi Sambo must be very careful so they would not sacrifice his office to stabilize the PDP. Continue...
"All of the Abducted Chibok School girls will not be released by Boko Haram. America knew the genesis of Boko Haram in Nigeria. Yes they will make some positive impacts but their intervention will not receive much results"

"I also foresaw the Borno State Government hand in the abduction of the girls. Boko Haram will be defeated but a deadlier sect which is now in Nigeria will cause more havoc than Boko Haram".

"We are still maintaining that Boko haram leader, Shekau, will not be captured alive but he will be killed in the battle front. God said that Boko Haram will be weakened spiritually and then they will be defeated physically".

IG of police MD Abubakar goes on terminal leave

The Inspector of Police Mohammed Abubakar has been asked to proceed on compulsory leave by president Jonathan allegedly because of the rising insecurity in the country under his watch and police under-performance under his leadership.
The Secretary to the Government, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim, issued a letter signed by the president on Monday May 12th asking the IG to hand over to his immediate subordinate, Suleiman Fakai, who is the Deputy Inspector General of Police  (DIG) in charge of Finance and Administration.
MD Abubakar became Inspector General of Police on January 25, 2012. His tenure was supposed to expire in July 2014, as he's due to retire July 30th 2014 based on mandatory retirement age after serving in the Nigerian Police Force for 35 years but had applied for extention of his tenure, but was turned down by the presidency.
Fakai will step in an acting capacity, until a new Inspector General is announced.

I liked Abubakar. I think he brought some sanity to the force. .It was under his leadership that police checkpoints on highways through which they extorted motorists and other road users were stopped.

Pregnant Sudanese woman to be flogged to death for marrying a Christian

A Sudanese court gave a 27-year-old woman who is eight-months pregnant with her second child, until Thursday to abandon her newly adopted Christian faith and return to Islam or face a death sentence.
Mariam Yahya Ibrahim was charged with apostasy as well as adultery for marrying a Christian man, something prohibited for Muslim women to do and which makes the marriage void.
According to Daily Mail, .
On February 7, 2014, Meriam was arrested, with her 20-month-old son, and put in a women’s prison. She had not been charged nor did she receive a fair trial.
A relative had turned her in to the police for marrying a Christian. According to the Sudan’s Public Order Criminal Code.Meriam is a Muslim by default because she was born in Sudan.
Thus, her marriage to a Christian is a criminal act.On March 4th, Meriam was charged with adultery and apostasy.

Meriam’s husband, Daniel, is not allowed to care for their child, Martin, because he is a Christian. Therefore, Martin, almost two years old, is in prison with his mother. Daniel is not allowed to visit or see his son.

Senator John McCain Disrespects President Goodluck Jonathan, Says he Wants U.S. Military Action in Nigeria

In a new interview with The Daily Beast, Senator John McCain disrespected President Jonathan when he said American forces should #BringBackOurGirls—even if the Nigerian government says no.

According to him, if he were the American president, he would already be doing several things to respond to the kidnapping of the over 200 girls by the Nigerian terrorist group that the Obama administration has so far declined to do.
McCain told The Daily Beast Tuesday:

“If they knew where they were, I certainly would send in U.S. troops to rescue them, in a New York minute I would, without permission of the host country. I wouldn’t be waiting
for some kind of permission from some guy named Goodluck Jonathan,” he added, referring to the president of Nigeria.
McCain said those measures include prepositioning U.S. special forces to be ready to enter Nigeria and rescue the girls if the opportunity arose. He said that the United Nations charter authorized military intervention on behalf of the girls because their abduction rose to the level of “crimes against humanity.”

“The United Nations Charter recognized crimes against humanity, this fits into the category of crimes against humanity, and that gives any nation the license if they can to stop a crime against humanity, the same reason we should have if we could have freed the people at Dachau or Auschwitz,” McCain said.

“Mastermind” of April 14 Nyanya, Abuja Bomb Blast Arrested in Sudan (Photo)

The terror fugitive behind the Nyanya bombing, Aminu Sadiq Ogwuche who was declared wanted by the Nigerian Police Force has been arrested.

This was announced today in Abuja at the National Briefing Centre, located at headquarters of National Orientation Agency (NOA). The coordinator of the national briefing centre, Director General of NOA, Mr. Mike Omeri, said Ogwuche was arrested in Sudan.
He said:

Aminu Sadiq Ogwuche who was earlier declared wanted has been arrested in Sudan with the effortsof the Army, DSS, the National Bureau of the Interpol based at the Nigerian
Police Force Headquarters and security operatives of Sudan".
Omeri further stated that the security operatives are already working to ensure his extradition back to Nigeria from where he was arrested.

The arrest came after the National Bureau of the Interpol based at the Nigerian Police Force Headquarters issued an international red alert for the search and arrest of terror fugitive.

Reports say Ogwuche, a U.K.-born son of a retired colonel, was once arrested on terrorism-related charges but was released upon pressure from his father and the human rights community. It was when his father was asked to produce his son and he couldn’t that it was learnt that the wanted man had escaped to Sudan.

Soldiers revolt in Maiduguri over lack of ammunitions and poor condition

Angry soldiers from the newly formed 7th Division of the Nigerian Army in Maiduguri today May 14th revolted against their General Officer Commanding, Major General Abubakar Mohammed, shooting sporadically in the Maimalari barracks, which is also home to the Artillery Corps, the Ordinance, as well as army signals in Maiduguri, Sahara Reporters reports

According to two soldiers who spoke with SR, emotions ran high when they saw the bodies of their colleagues ambushed and killed by Boko Haram men in Chibok, Borno state. The angry soldiers immediately started shooting into the air, complaining that their superior have failed to provide them with adequate weaponry with which to fight the war against the better-armed Boko Haram militants.
“We the soldiers don’t have the kind of arms and ammunition that [Boko Haram] fighters have. So everyday, they kill our men anyhow, but it is never published in the media,” said one source. The other source also complained that the commanding officers “are too busy ‘eating’ money. And they do not pay our allowances on time. And once [a soldier dies], nobody knows what happens to his allowances again.”
General Mohammed was immediately whisked out of the barracks to an unknown destination

More details on how civilians staved off Boko Haram attack, killed dozens

An update by Dr. Peregrino Brimah of ENDS.ng

More details are coming in on how the Civilian-JTF, civilian vigilantes staved off a Boko Haram attack and possible abduction in Kalabalge local government, northeast Borno state, near the Cameroonian border.
The villagers who were prepared for the Boko Haram attack had dug out trenches for the purpose. The Rann village, located in the middle of a Boko Haram strong-hold, had been attacked by Boko Haram in the recent past. In that attack they had allegedly acquired two light-weight armored tanks and some AK47 rifles. They refused to turn in this ammunition to the government in an increasingly common response as more villages in the north are determined to take up arms to defend themselves in the current state of deadly insecurity. Continue...
The invading terrorists who launched an early Tuesday morning attack on Rann, Shuwa and neighboring villages, were met by a strong and determined villager resistance. Over 200 terrorists were killed. The full number of the dead is not yet known as the villagers ran in pursuit of the escaping and injured terrorists into the bushes to continue their extermination.

More than 35 Boko Haram terrorists were captured. One APC and more than four hilux trucks and several motorcycles were captured from the terrorists.

At the time of this report, about 20 villagers were said to have lost their lives in the fierce, brave battle.

Nigerians in the worst affected regions are seeking the formal right to bear arms and defend themselves. The Borno Civilian-JTF sent this request to Nigeria’s President, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan in a meeting with security agents this month. The ENDS civil activist group also sent a formal request for Executive Authorization of the people to bear arms, supported by the government to defend their territory and hunt and eliminate Boko Haram terrorists. The government is yet to officially respond to the open letter delivered to the State secretary on April 25th, 2014.

In related news, there was Mutiny in the military today as soldiers reportedly attacked a General officer commanding (GOC) of the Nigerian army 7th division, Major General Abubakar Mohammed, who was accused of sabotaging the military mission and not reporting to a particular mission he was requested to. He was said to have fled as he was fired upon when he came to his office at the Maimalari barracks. The soldiers went in pursuit of the commander, whose whereabouts are not known as at the time of this report.

Borno Villagers fight off Boko Haram gunmen, kill and Capture many

Residents of Kalabalge Village in Borno State on Tuesday fought off invading Boko Haram gunmen in an early morning attack, killing several of them with about 10 also caught alive.
According to Premium Times, the insurgents had repeatedly attempted to attack Kalabalge, an agro-nomad community near the Cameroon borders, but failed to gain entry into the village on each attempt.
A vigilante member told premuim times on phone

“We have told them (Boko Haram) that they cannot take their attacks to our village because, we have taken measures both security wise and spiritually to prevent them. They wanted to attack us just the way they did in Bama, Konduga and Damboa, but we got the wind of it and all of us laid ambush for them; when they neared the village, we opened fire using our Dane duns, double barrel rifles and bows-and-arrows, most of them who were shocked took to their heels, but many of them died, some that were injured have been caught alive and are with the security people as I am talking to you”,
An official of the State Security Service who pleads anonymity confirmed the incident to reporters on phone.

“The insurgents tried to attack the village as at 5 a.m. of this morning (Tuesday) but the vigilante and some members of the village who got the hint of the attack laid ambush and were able to kill as many of them as possible, while about ten of them were caught alive; they also recovered two trucks from the insurgents"

Parents identify 4 abducted girls in Boko Haram video, but most still cannot see their daughters

Four parents of missing Chibok girls are said to have identified their missing daughters in the video released by Boko Haram leader, Abubakar Shekau, yesterday. According to Sahara reporters, Mrs Esther Mutali, one of the mothers of the missing girls say some parents of the abducted girls in their community have been able to identify their daughters in the video.

According to Madam Esther, those identified include two senior students from Askari Uba Secondary School and Wuyo Secondary School respectively. Both schools are near Chibok. A third girl, whose name was given as “Abdu Hauwa”, has also been identified by her mother. The source added that a fourth girl, Adiza Isah, has also been sighted in the video, making the total of identified girls four. Continue...

A Community leader in Chibok, Allan Manessah, however says most parents whom he visited in the community were not able to identify their daughters in the video released yesterday and that he also visited one of the girls who escaped from the boko haram hideout and she could not recognize any of the girls in the video. He says his fear is that the whole video release may be a ploy by Boko Haram leader to divert attention from the security experts pursuing him for the girls release.

Meanwhile sources in the Borno state government say the state government has set up a committee headed by the Chibok Local Government Chairman to handle the identification of the girls. The official revealed that the state government plans to assemble the parents of the abducted girls living in Maiduguri and its surrounding areas to watch the video at the Government House today to enable them to identify their daughters.
