Revealed-Lagos bar where male sex workers hustle for clients

The time was 7pm, penultimate Saturday. The venue was a hotel on Abaranje Road in Ikotun, a suburb in Lagos State. He adorned black denims on a black T-shirt. He said his name was Kenny, of course, he admitted it wasn’t his real name.

He sauntered into the hotel as if his main aim was to have a couple of drinks and maybe complement it with a plate of sizzling pepper soup.

    But Kenny didn’t just come to only have a drink, Kenny is first of all, a male commercial sex worker and was looking for a customer that he would ‘service’ in order to make a quick cash for the weekend. One of our correspondents got to know Kenny through a regular customer, who had been patronising the motel bar for a long time and who once had a close contact with him.

Being a regular face in the bar as the place seemed to be his office at night, his presence was certain, and indeed, he came, our correspondent waited for him.

It is no news that bars and drinking joints are the right spots for many on weekends, and being at the centre of a busy road, this hotel seemed like a right place for many. The music blaring from the speakers was good and loud enough to entertain even those who were not within the premises.


With the perimeter fencing well-illuminated, passers-by could as well be tempted to stop by and have a drink. But for Kenny, he came on purpose. On hand were some guys in crested vests with ‘security’ boldly printed on them to ensure law and order in the premises.

Not even the crowd and almost non-availability of chairs could dissuade people as some, including our correspondent, had to lean on a car for some time before he could locate a seat.

    “This is the way it is on weekends. Because a number of those who come here on weekends are in the working class, you don’t get to see them on week days, so, on weekends, the house is always full. Even at certain times, you may not have a place to sit, and the premises, including the car park, would be so crowded, yet, it’s safe,” Seun, who claimed to be a regular customer, told Saturday Punch.


But the loud music would not really be the only thing one would instantly notice, skimpily and scantily dressed ladies prancing from one end of the motel to the other would instantly hit your eyes as soon as you sit, stand or hang out anywhere near the motel.

    Of course, one wouldn’t need a soothsayer to know that the ladies are commercial sex workers, looking for customers for the night.
    Indeed, just as they are on the lookout for patrons, their male counterparts are not left behind.

Like Kenny, sitting at different tables, were young guys chatting, smoking and drinking and talking in loud voices. To the innocent eyes, they are just young men having a good time. But then, only a few would know that some of them are also commercial sex workers. They are available for women who are ready to have them in exchange for some cash.

Since the male sex workers may not readily own up or be identified as being available for ‘service’, one of our correspondents approached a female sex worker as if he needed a ‘quickie’ or ‘short rest’ so that in the middle of their chat, she could help in identifying a guy to service his ‘madam.’

    “Babe, how far now,” our correspondent asked. “I dey o, wetin dey happen?” she responded. Our correspondent introduced himself as ‘John’ while she gave her name as ‘Debbie’ who looked to be in her mid 20s.Our correspondent requested for a short service but that before proceeding to the room or the car, she would have to help in arranging a “strong guy” for his madam who parked outside the hotel.

    “I brought my madam here so I could ‘arrange’ a guy for her, but since I wouldn’t want to idle away while they would be having a good time, we can quickly do a ‘short rest’ before they would finish theirs. So you go help me arrange man for am. I mean guy wey strong well well o,” our correspondent had asked Debbie.
    “That one na small thing now, guys dey. Make we talk our own first. It depends on what you want or what she wants; maybe tall or short, fair or dark, they are all here and they are all very strong too. In fact, I have some that I can’t give your madam because they can ‘wound’ her. I hope say your madam go fit pay o and she go get body hold am,” Debbie responded swiftly.

She agreed to take N1,500 for the ‘short time’ service, with an agreement that our correspondent would pay for a room in the motel at the rate of N700.

    “For short rest, a room is N700 but if it is till day break, it’s N4,000, but if you give me the money, they can take N500 from me instead of the N700 because I’m a regular customer. I just ‘rested’ a guy now, so they know me very well, and there are many rooms we can choose from,” she explained.


When the deal was sealed, she handed her drink to our correspondent and dashed into the crowd to look for one of the male sex workers.

A few minutes later, Debbie returned with five guys, averagely in their mid and late 20s. On arrival, they introduced themselves, which sounded like aliases. Among them was Water, perceived to be a strong and qualified guy for the job. Others gave their names as TK, Segun, Uche and Charles, all looking set for work as they gesticulated occasionally.

While thinking of which of them to choose, they all promised to ‘deliver’ more than expected.

On a closer look, our correspondent had sighted one of them in the bar, smoking, drinking and dancing, all at once, but nothing would have given him away as a sex worker. Though he appeared like a ‘bad guy’, sagging his jean trousers as if his boxers had to be a part of the party.

After taking turns to explain how much they could perform, Saturday Punch learnt that the average amount the guys collect from any woman who needs their services for a short time is N5,000. It could be more than one round, but not for too long.

    “If it is till daybreak, we charge at least N8,000, and the woman would also pay for the room and a room costs N4,000 per night in this place unless she doesn’t want to use the hotel. We can go for as many rounds as she wants,” Water told Saturday Punch.

With an assurance that money wouldn’t be a problem as long as he could deliver and satisfy the madam, Water boasted that he had been doing it and ‘servicing’ big women for a long time and that he was very popular in the bar such that those who had been patronising the hotel knew him for his strength.

    “It’s been a while I started doing this thing, even before I came here. And the truth is that the more you do, the better skilled you become. So chairman, relax, madam go enjoy my company. In fact, because she is a new customer, I can give her discount and she should just give me whatever she has afterwards. I’m sure if she enjoys my service, she would come back looking for me.

    “Ask them, all of them know me, and they know that I don’t disappoint. If she says we should go now, I’m ready, no stopping till mama calls,” he assured.

When our correspondent selected Water to meet the madam, who had been waiting outside in her car, his face beamed with smiles. He teased his colleagues, saying he had caught another big fish.

He almost led the way when it was time to go, basking in some euphoria. It was while walking to the car that he told our correspondent that he had been cash-strapped for some time. He said he would give his best so that he would be rewarded handsomely.

    “Some of the big women I have ‘serviced’ before still call me till date, and once you do them well (sic), they won’t want to lose you. They can even call you to meet them anywhere and they would pay,” he added.


On getting to the car where one of our correspondents pretends to be the ‘madam,’ Water expressed a little reservation before going into the car alone with someone he had never met before, but with assurance that nothing would happen to him, he jumped in.

But then again, once inside the car where ‘madam’ was waiting to ‘bargain’ with Water, the young man’s confidence waned a little as he kept looking from one corner of the car to the other, apparently looking for what would give away the correspondent as not being real.

Asked why he looked tensed, Water said, “Sorry ma, it is not as if I am not used to this. But then again, I have to be careful. You know that this is not common. We are aware that women come here and ‘take’ our ‘destinies’ once we sleep with them. The money that we ought to make would be going to them.”

But ‘madam’ quickly assured him that his fears weren’t necessary by telling him, “I am not looking for a boyfriend. The guys I had dealt with stole my money and broke my heart even when I gave them love. I just want somebody I can have sex with and that is just that. I don’t want my heart to be involved at all.”

Satisfied with the explanation, Water quickly boasted about his sexual prowess.

    “Ah! Madam! I will do you well. In fact, if I ‘handle’ you, I am not sure you would want to let me go. Just try me and you would find out that you have been dealing with the wrong boys.”


And of course, he didn’t waste time to tell ‘madam’ that he would charge N15, 000 for the night for his ‘services.’

    “Madam, if na TDB (Till day break), na N15k I go take o, I no charge you. No be so we dey even collect. E get some people wey dey charge N20k. Last week, na N25k one woman pay me. I just like you as you set, na why I wan collect N15k.”


The bargaining eventually ended at N7, 000 for the night but Water insisted that he wouldn’t be the person that would pay for the room.

    “A room in this hotel is N4, 000. You will be the one to pay for it and my own money will be N7, 000. Na the last price be that.”

Apart from the money ‘madam’ was willing to pay, the young man had some other ‘conditions’ attached to his services.

    “Madam, if you no wan make I use condom, that one will cost you extra. The N7k is with condom o. Without condom dey sweet pass and na why we dey charge extra N2, 000 for that.
    “Madam, you go first ‘ginger’ me well. Then we go come play. Na you go ‘ginger’ me before we play, otherwise my body no go fit stand.”


When our correspondent assured him that he would be ‘gingered,’ Water was all eager to set the ball rolling.But our correspondent told him he would have to wait for her the following day, that she had just come into town.

Before they departed, ‘madam’ asked Water if he had other people who could ‘service’ her friends and he replied in the affirmative.

    “We plenty nah. Ha! Should I call somebody for you now? Is your friend on her way? This is what we do. We are ‘hustlers’. Na so we dey make our money, we no be thieves and we are not criminals,” he said.


When asked if he would agree to a monthly or weekly allowance, Water agreed but not without saying,

    “Madam, the first night, we must do it here o. I am still not sure of you. So we have to use this motel first. Then, if you want me to come to your hotel later, I would agree. That one na small thing.”

While Water and ‘madam’ engaged in serious bargaining, Debbie appeared, seemingly impatient to have our correspondent, her ‘early customer’ all to herself. With a little tip, she agreed to stay for some time until the conversation between Water and the ‘madam’ was over.

    “That guy is good if your madam can pay. I have slept with him before and he almost spoilt my tool of business. He took me home for ‘daybreak’ and I could barely walk the following morning. My legs were weak and I could barely walk home, and he still appeared very strong after all he did through the night. Even though he paid me N6,000 for the service, I can’t sleep with him again,” Debbie narrated.

Debbie assured our correspondent that the chosen guy was a very strong ‘sex machine.’ She explained that the guys who do such are not always greedy about the money they want to collect because she had arranged guys for some women earlier, including the one she did for a woman the previous day.

    “The woman called me this morning to appreciate me for giving her a good guy. She told me the guy was very good and capable,” she added.


When asked whether there were enough men that could satisfy as many women that might come in a day, she hissed in amazement, saying they were more than imagined.

    “Some of those guys that you see hanging around are available for service, whether for short time or TDB but you won’t know they do such, you know how our society be now. Unlike our own, so they can’t really do much to present themselves as available. Besides, some women are too shy to come here but since here is safe and there is accommodation for just N700, they feel safe to do it here,” she said.


After a little familiarity, she confided in our correspondent that she had a beauty salon but that since business had been bad, she went into commercial sex to augment her income, more so because it doesn’t affect her work in the afternoon.7

     “But if any of my customers calls me during the day, I will oblige him as long as he’s ready to pay,” she added.


While our correspondent promised to get back to Water the following day, he gladly gave out his number as he pocketed the N1,000 gift given to him to buy himself a drink. He however added that he would be expecting a call, beaming with smiles as he walked away.

While the conversation lasted, some of the other guys had been moving up and down around the car, hoping the ‘madam’ would need them as well. And, on the other hand, Debbie had stormed out of the discussion with our correspondent out of impatience, complaining that she was losing money as she stood outside chatting, but not without a cash gift as well.

SHOCKING! How Cleric Poisoned client,chopped off his hands,Head & private parts

Residents of Obele community in Oko-Agbola, Magbon area of Badagry, Lagos, were taken aback at the sight of policemen at the site of a swimming pool around the area on February 13, 2015. However, before their arrival, a crowd had gathered to watch the bloated headless body of a man in the river. At the approach of the policemen, the crowd disappeared into thin air for fear of possible arrest.
On closer observation , it was discovered that the headless man also had other parts of his body mutilated. For instance, his two breasts were slashed off, his two wrists chopped off and his chest region dissected, revealing a conspicuously deep hole. Not only that, his stomach was also discovered to have been sliced open with the intestines missing, as well as his manhood.

Before the arrival of the policemen, the crowd reportedly tried in vain to fathom the true identity of the headless man who was dumped in the river, stark naked. However, the nut has been cracked by operatives of the Homicide section of the State Criminal Investigations Department ,SCID, Panti, Yaba, following the arrest of a Muslim cleric , otherwise known as Alfa.


The 27 year-old suspect, Alfa Fatai Aderomu, an Arabic teacher popularly known around Oko-Agbonla area of Magbon, is currently cooling his heels inside the dreaded cell at Panti. He gave a shilling account of how the headless body found its way into the river.

JOURNEY OF NO RETURN

    The headless man was later discovered to be one Rafiu Suleiman , a father of one, who also lived around the area. Further checks showed that he left home for his place of work in Apapa on Valentine day, February 14, 2015, but never returned. Apprehension reportedly set in next day following his continued absence, a development that led to his family reporting at Morogbo police division the next day.

    Search, as gathered, had been conducted round the area, with visits to hospitals and mortuaries but he was not found. His wife and their 3-year-old baby were said to have waited in vain for the arrival of their 41-year-old bread winner, until news about the discovery of a headless man in Obele river reached them.


STARTLING DISCOVERY
Crime Guard gathered that members of the family were invited to ascertain whether the headless body was that of the missing Suleiman. While they were at it, the wife reportedly called a member of the family who was with the Police on phone, informing that her husband had informed her on Valentine day that he would stop by Alfa Aderomu’s place on his way back.

    With that information, operatives of the Homicide section led by the officer-in charge, Mr Iyamah Daniel, a Chief superintendent of Police, stormed Aderomu’s apartment located at 32, Oko-Agbola street,where he was seen teaching children Arabic and Islamic studies. He was subsequently apprehended.
    Spokesman for the Lagos State Police Command, Kenneth Nwosu, who confirmed the arrest, revealed that when a search was conducted round the cleric’s apartment, a pair of blue Jeans identified as the one worn by the victim was found in a nearby bust opposite Alfa Aderomu’s house. On further interrogation, he reportedly opened up by saying that he administered a concoction on the deceased that fateful day which led to his death, right in his apartment which he shared with his wife and five children.

CONCOCTION FOR FAVOR
 In an encounter with the Oyo state-born suspect, he gave a terrifying account which could be likened to a horror movie, of how the victim whom he claimed to be his client, died and how he was dumped in the river. Hear him:

    “ Rafiu Suleiman (deceased) was a friend and a client for two years . He usually came for spiritual cleansing. Yes, I have been an Alfa ( Islamic cleric) for 15 years.I own a mosque where I teach children Islamic and Arabic studies.

    I also administer treatment on strange sicknesses. Also, I prepare concoction of favor, success and quick sales for my clients. On February 14 , 2015, Suleiman called me on phone to inform that his child had dislocated his arm. I told him I could prepare medicine that would heal him. That morning, he came to my house and dropped N2000 for the preparation of the medicine intended for his child.

     On his way back from work, precisely11pm, he came to my place and demanded for an earlier concoction I prepared for him. It was for favor. He said he needed it in order to gain his boss’s favor at work. He worked as a crane driver. After preparing the concoction, he took it . That was 12 midnight. By then, he said he could not go back home, that it was late. At about 2am, he started complaining of stomach ache. I gave him palm oil, after which we both slept.

… AND HE DIED?
At this point, the suspect paused , shook his head intermittently and cast a stare at this reporter as if he was in a trance. After a long silence, he continued:

     “ I woke up at about 4am. But by the time I shook Suleiman to wake him up, he was cold. I shook him vigorously and at the same time called out his name but there was dead silence.”
    Crime Guard asked if his (Alfa’s) wife and children whom he said occupied one of the two bedrooms were not attracted by the noise, he replied: “ No, I did not shout that loud . Immediately, I picked my phone and quickly dialed the number of the Chief Imam of Obelle community (name withheld). When he came, he suggested we should take the body away from the house in order to avoid prying eyes.”

HOW BODY WAS DISMEMBERED
Alfa Aderomu stated that the body was cut and and packed into two bags of rice and thereafter, taken to a bush along the street. From his explanation, it seemed the Chief Imam came prepared for the dehumanizing act, as according to him:

    “ When we reached the bush, the Chief Imam brought out a knife and cut the two wrist s and the head.

    He hid them somewhere in the bush with a promise to come pick them later. Next day, we called another cleric named(name withheld) on phone. On arrival, we discovered that came with another cleric(name withheld) . They dissected the chest and removed the heart . They also cut the stomach and removed all the intestines. They further cut off the breasts and manhood.”

BODY DUMPED IN THE RIVER
Asked what part of the body he collected, he said ,

    “I did not collect any part”. Also asked what they intended doing with the body parts, he said : “ I believe they either wanted to sell them or use them to prepare concoction for fertility , stroke or other illnesses.’’ Continuing, he said : “ We, thereafter, pulled his clothes and pants before dumping him inside the stagnant pool . Our intention was to prevent his death being linked to me. I did not plan to kill him.

POWDERY SUBSTANCE KILLED HIM

    How could I plan to kill Rafiu Suleiman who was like a brother to me? I have prepared several concoctions for him and nothing bad has ever happened. What actually killed him was the powdery substance I added in the concoction. I believe it was too much. That was why, when he complained of stomach ache, I quickly gave him palm oil.
    I didn’t know it would kill him. Since I became a cleric, such calamity had never befallen me. I had to call my colleagues because I was confused. I did not know they would end up complicating my problem,. If I had known, I would have called his family or even raised alarm.

RECOVERED BURNT SUBSTANCE
When asked what the earthen port with burnt substance which was recovered inside his apartment was meant for, the suspect revealed that it was a concoction for success which was at the verge of being prepared for a client. According to him:

     “ The burnt substance were in different denominations of naira I added some ingredients to it before burning them. It was at the last stage of preparation when I was arrested.
    The last stage would have been the killing of a ram for the blood to be added to the burnt materials. Thereafter, the ram would be cooked and shared to people. It was meant for a client who wanted to be successful in his business”, he said , insisting however that his intention was never to kill his client.

POLICE ON THE TRAIL OF FLEEING CHIEF IMAM

    As at the time of filing this report, operatives of the Homicide section were on their way to recover the head of the victim from where the suspect said it was kept. Also the Chief Imam of the community alleged to have cut off the head and wrists was said to be on the run. But the Police stated that they were on his trail, assuring that they would get him.

On Marriage

    It will happen very soon but it takes planning and much more. Ironically, I am facing a lot of pressure regarding marriage but it is not from either of our families. The pressure is from outsiders. I want to work hard and be stable. I want to work to the extent that I would not rely on music because I do music for fun. Everybody knows that she lives with me and I am already living like a married man.

Why do you like being controversial?

    It is what sells. I am not the rave-of –the –moment artiste but I am still very relevant in the industry and it is because I am controversial. I love the controversy. I like making people talk.

People are of the opinion that since you became a father, you have calmed down in your lifestyle, do you agree to that?

    Yes it is true. Anybody that has a child must calm down, it is a general thing. Once you have a child, you must become a responsible man. That is when people would know that the madness is deliberate and it is just being done to make money. My son is a British citizen and he is going back to school in London in March. This is to show people that I know what I am doing. The craziness is what puts food on my table and money in my bank accounts. There are people that support and love it.

Back then, you pierced your entire face, why did you eventually remove the studs on your face?

    I stopped because I already set the pace and everybody is piercing now. I will still do something that they will follow.

What is the most expensive fashion item you own?

    It is my jewellery but I cannot say the amount I bought it for security reasons. They are investments and even my earring is gold.

What kind of clothes do you feel most comfortable in?

    I love looking hip-hop. Dressing is a style and there are so many reasons I am not on a billboard. I will not cut my hair for any reason neither would I change my brand. I cannot lose this image because of my fans and I love them so much.

Why do you like wearing bright coloured clothes?

    I like flashy colours because of the kind of shoes I wear. I like blue, red, and green. I like colours a lot but I do not like pink. I believe pink and purple are colours for homosexuals

What fashion item can you not leave home without?

    That would be my jewellery. They call me Mr. Bling Bling, I started it.

What is the biggest fashion mistake you have made?

    There was a time I put different colours on my hair at once. My hair was multi-coloured and I looked like a masquerade. It had yellow, green and red. That was a big fashion regret but I just wanted people to talk about my brand. I just started out back then.

Since you portray craziness with your brand, can you do that hairstyle again?

    Never, God forbids.

Amazing!!Stolen baby found after 17 years in South Africa(Photos)

 A baby stolen from her sleeping mother's arms shortly after birth has been found by the family through an astonishing coincidence 17 years later, South African police say.

A 50-year-old woman has been arrested and charged with kidnapping after pupils noticed a remarkable likeness between the 17-year-old and her younger biological sister, who started attending the same school this year.

DNA tests have confirmed that the older girl is the daughter of Celeste and Morne Nurse, who was snatched from Groote Schuur hospital as a three-day-old baby named Zephany in April 1997..

The parents, who later had three more children, have celebrated Zephany's birthday every year since she was kidnapped, never giving up hope that their first-born child would come back to them some day, the Cape Argus said.

Zephany grew up with a different name, and a different family, never knowing she was not their real daughter.

But last month her biological sister, Cassidy Nurse, started high school at the same school as Zephany, and fellow pupils noticed a startling resemblance she bore to a final-year student.

When Cassidy told her parents about the girl, they invited her home for a cup of coffee.

When they saw the striking resemblance between the girls, they contacted the police.

Police spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Andr Traut confirmed that a woman had been arrested. She and her husband, who is also in his fifties, have no other children.

    "The suspect is being charged with kidnapping, fraud and contravening sections ... of the Children's Act, in that she fraudulently pretended that she was the biological mother of a child,"
    "The kidnapped girl has since been placed in the care of the Department of Social Services of the Western Cape government."

Without knowing it, the Nurse family had been living within a couple of kilometres of their kidnapped daughter.

"I wanted to test her virginity-Says Man caught trying to rape daughter

A man arrested for allegedly attempting to rape his daughter in Ajeromi, Ifelodun local government area of Lagos State, has told the police that he wanted to test her virginity.


The suspect, identified simply as Alex, was said to have attempted to rape his 15-year- old daughter, Agnes (not real name), in his apartment at Abiodun street, Ajegunle.


Alex was apprehended by his neighbours and handed over to the police at Ajegunle police station but was later released on bail at the weekend.
Leadership gathered that Alex had told Agnes to undress up to her underwear, and allegedly wanted to make love to her but she raised the alarm.The neighbours came to her rescue after forcing the door open.

A police inspector attached to Ajegunle police station, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, told Leadership that it was neighbours that dragged the suspect to the station.

He said:

     “His wife was not at home when he wanted to perpetrate the act but the man denied doing that. You know that nobody will agree that he wanted to rape his daughter. Police acted on the information given to us and even took the minor to the general hospital for medical examination.”

According to the source, Alex claimed that he only wanted to check whether his daughter had been breached.

    “He wanted to know whether his daughter is still a virgin or not. So he decided to insert his fingers, to know her situation, according to him,” he said.

The Federal government yesterday raised an alarm over the continued radicalization and recruitment of Nigerian youths, especially children of the rich studying abroad, into international terrorist group, ISIS. Speaking at a joint media briefing at the National Information Center in Abuja, the DG of the Center, Mike Omeri said intelligence report indicates that children of the rich and affluent studying abroad are being recruited into ISIS via social media and other other sources.

"At this point, we wish to alert the nation that intelligence report indicates the continued radicalization of our youths through the social media and a variety of other sources. The reports also indicate these youths who are mostly children of the rich and affluent are being recruited into ISIS. We therefore call on parents and guidance especially those whose wards are schooling abroad to closely monitor the activities of these students who may be substitutable to the antics of the promoters of this strange catastrophic ideology" he said

Motorcyclist rapes 2-year old,kicks pregnant aunt

The police have arrested a 30-year-old motorcycle rider, Garuba Abdulraman, for allegedly defiling a two-year-old, Pat, (pseudonym) in the Somolu area of Lagos State.

Punch Metro learnt that Abdulraman, an indigene of Niger State, also kicked the minor’s pregnant aunty, Alimat Muazu, when the later quizzed him on the child’s whereabouts.The incident happened on Saturday on Ofor Street.

A relative of the victim, who did not identify himself, said the family did a medical test on her and it was discovered that her hymen had been broken.He added that the hospital subsequently placed her on medication.

    “It happened on Saturday, February 21, 2015 around 11.30am.Pat’s mother lives in Gbagada, while her sister, Muazu, stays at Somolu. She decided to visit Muazu that day.It was during the visit that the girl suddenly went missing and everybody started looking for her.
    “But somebody said he sighted Abdulraman, a motorcyclist, taking her away. So, some women trailed the child to an uncompleted building where he lives. When they got there, they met him and he didn’t tell them where the child was.”

Punch Metro learnt that there was an exchange of words between the women and the suspect, and in the ensuing scuffle, the suspect kicked Muazu in the stomach.He was also said to have threatened to use cutlass to hack them if they moved closer.

Our correspondent was told that Abdulraman dared the family to report to the police after which policemen from the Somolu Division were alerted.

A police source told our correspondent that a case of assault was reported at the station.

    “When we got there, we found the girl in one of the rooms, in a big bowl of water.
    “She could barely move and when she tried, she fell down. She began to cry. We didn’t suspect anything until we saw that her pants and clothes had been washed and hung on the line to dry. The suspect was also not putting on any clothes.”

The police were said to have taken the victim to the hospital where it was confirmed that there was penetration.Abdulraman was arraigned before an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday on four counts of rape and assault.

The suspect, who spoke through an interpreter to the court, confirmed that he assaulted Muazu and threatened to use cutlass on them.

He, however, denied raping the victim.

He said,

    “I don’t know these people from anywhere. I had gone to their compound when someone said he needed to buy plywoods.Pat came near my okada and started playing with it, and those people said I should help them carry her, which I did.After they finished buying the plywoods, they said they could still not carry her, because they had a lot of load to carry. They asked me to help them.
    “It was while carrying her that she soiled her clothes and I decided to wash it for her. I never had sex with her.”

He added that he was forced to threaten the women with cutlass after they stoned him.The police prosecutor, Richard Odige, told the court that the offence was punishable under sections 267, 137, 170 and 56 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State Nigeria, 2011.

His defence counsel, F.S. Osordi, applied for bail, for the defendant, asking the court to overlook Abdulraman’s guilty plea to charges of assault and threat to injure with cutlass.

    “I am not really sure he understood what he was saying because he told me a different thing before this court sat. We apply that the court should order that count three be read to him again,” he added.

Kidnappers of American Missionary in Kogi demand N60m

Kidnappers have demanded the sum of N60m for the American missionary abducted from her workplace in Kogi State.
Rev. Phyllis Sortor was snatched by masked gunmen, who stormed the Hope Alive Nursery/Primary School, which she runs in Emiworo, Ajaokuta Local government Area of Kogi State on Monday.
According to the Nation,Commissioner of Police Adeyemi Ogunjemilusi said the five kidnappers had tabled N60 million ransom demand.

The kidnappers were “unknown gunmen…(who) came into the school premises shooting sporadically to scare away people before taking (the hostage) away into the bush”,
He added that the gunmen came through the hill at the back of the school and forcibly pulled her out from her office. The abductors scaled over the fence with her. They all disappeared through the hill
“Her whereabouts are unknown but the police have deployed their men to secure the pupils and locate Rev. Sortor.”

 The abducted missionary worker is from Seattle in the United States.

Produce the real Shekau-Fayose orders APC

Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State, has reacted to the claim by the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Organisation that the Federal Government was planning to use a fake Ibrahim Shekau to implicate the party’s presidential candidate, Major General Mohammadu Buhari (retd).

Fate of teenager arrested by police 8 months ago unknown despite family paying 160k for bail(Photo)

The fate of a 17-year-old boy, Aliu Oladeni, who was clamped in detention by the Igando Police Station since June 2014, has remained unknown.

His relatives said the police at the division, who had been dribbling the family, collected over N160, 000 to release him on bail, but had yet to do so.

The victim’s relatives said they believed he was still alive, despite the side remarks by some people around the station that he might have been killed by the police.

Punch Metro learnt that Aliu was detained at the station as an accomplice in a robbery operation, after the prime suspect, identified as Sodiq, took a mob to his house.


Our correspondent was told that the mob did not meet him at home but vandalised some of the family’s property before leaving with a warning to be back.

Aliu’s mother, Bola Oladeni, said she was assisting a neighbour, who was having a wedding in the adjoining street, when she learnt there was commotion in her house.

She said,

     “It was on Sunday morning, June 22. Some people came to our house with sticks and cutlasses. I was not around, but as soon as I got the information, I went home. They had broken our door and damaged the ceilings. They said they were looking for Aliu.
    “They said they caught one of his friends, Sodiq, who was involved in a robbery operation the previous night, and he said he was one of his accomplices.
    “We told them Aliu was not around, and they promised to be back.”

She said Aliu had gone to a viewing centre to see a football match the previous night and had slept in the place.

It was learnt that while the mob left the house for the Igando Police Division, Aliu’s siblings went to the viewing centre and took Aliu to the station.
Our correspondent was told that the decision was to avert the return of the mob to the house.

Aliu’s sister, Fatimoh, said the family met the station swelling with crowd, which included Sodiq and the complainant, a woman, who lived in Ikotun.

They were said to be making their statements on the incident.

She said,

    “My father asked to see the woman whose house was burgled and he begged the police if he could ask the woman a question. The Investigating Police Officer said he could.
    “He asked the complainant if he spotted Aliu during the incident, and she said no. She said there were three robbers who came to her house, and they were not masked, so she saw their faces clearly. She said it was while they were about escaping that Sodiq was caught.
    “It was after the mob had tortured him that they asked him to take them round to the houses of his friends. And that was how he brought them to our house.
    “But the policemen at the station attacked my father and he fell down. They said he should stop teaching them their job.”

Aliu’s elder brother, Murtala, a footballer, explained that he used to know Sodiq as Aliu’s friend, until he left the area about a year ago.

    “He left this area about a year ago and was separated from my brother. After he finished secondary school, Aliu went to learn how to make bags. After he was done, he ventured into screen printing and was preparing for his graduation when the incident happened.

    “When the mob brought Sodiq that day, I asked him where he had been for more than one year, and he didn’t say anything. When we got to the police station, and people asked him if it was Aliu or not, he still didn’t say a word,” he said.


Our correspondent was told that the police, however, visited Aliu’s house the same day and after ransacking the house, they didn’t find any incriminating material.They were said to have demanded the payment of N80,000 for his bail.

Aliu’s sister said,

     “After we paid the money, the police told us they could not remove his name from a list they had prepared because they were transferring the matter to the state Special Anti-Robbery Squad.
    “A man, who lives in our house, then took my father to the then Igando Divisional Police Officer, CSP Benjamin Osuji, and after much appeal, we pay another N80,000.
    “The neighbour, Mr. Charles, called the DPO in our house and at a point in their conversation, they switched to Ibo language. We didn’t understand their conversation, but he always told us the DPO was working on the release of my brother.”

PUNCH Metro learnt that after the payment, the policemen at the station started ignoring telephone calls from the family.

The family said lawyers hired to help in the release of Aliu, informed them the police had told them to forget about the case.

Aliu’s father, Sunday Oladeni, a mechanic, said an inspector from the Igando Station told the family that Aliu might never be seen again.

He said,

     “The inspector told me we should pray because I might never see my son again, saying his case had been taken to Federal SARS in Abuja. We have spent so much without any result.
    “Let them allow us see him and if he has done anything bad, let them take the matter to court.”

The Police Public Relations Officer, Kenneth Nwosu, said the former DPO of Igando Police Station, Osuji, denied collecting any money from Aliu’s family.

He said,

    “It is an armed robbery case. You said the boy was 17 years, but I have been told he is not 17. I have also spoken with the DPO in question and he denied taking money from the family. The matter has been transferred from the station.”


When asked on Monday where the suspect was transferred to, Nwosu said he had not been able to ascertain it, but that he would get back to our correspondent.

He had, however, yet to do so as of Tuesday evening when the report was filed.

A woman was locked in a shed and "treated like an animal" because her mum and dad didn't like her boyfriend, it has been claimed.

Police are investigating claims that Zhang Qi, 24, was allegedly locked up for 6 years after being made to dump her boyfriend in 2009.

According to Huffington Post,despite being told the relationship was over, Zhang tried several times to run away before her parents told everybody that she was mentally ill and being locked up for her own protection, a villager in Jingang in China's Hubei province said.Chow Jen, 50, said: "

Her parents are powerful people here and everyone was told not to interfere.
"Everyone knew about the girl in the house. I moved away and only come back to visit occasionally so I don't care about their threats, and that's why I was happy to expose these pictures online after the local authorities refused to do anything."Every time I came back for Chinese New Year I went to visit her secretly.On my latest visit though I saw her lying on a pile of straw with a couple of blankets and some food around her and I just decided enough was enough.Whether what they say about her having mental problems is true or not, she is being treated like an animal here and I’m sick of it so I contacted the police, and then posted the images online."

Teenager stabs friend to death over refusal to let him steal plasma TV(Photo)

A 19-year-old man, Salaudeen Rilwan, is currently cooling his heels in the cell at the Department of Criminal Investigation (DCI), Iyaganku, Ibadan in Oyo State Police Command, after he was accused of killing one Kareem Alaba Suraju at Omi Adio area of Ibadan. Suraju’s offence was that he did not allow the suspect to steal his friend’s plasma television.

The suspect was reported to have gone to the residence of one Olayiwola Femi at Oke Oloro, Omi Adio area of Ibadan at about 12 noon on Friday, January 30, 2015. On getting there, he did not meet Femi but saw Suraju, who happened to be Femi’s friend as well as his landlord’s son.

Suraju was reported to have stayed back at home because he was not feeling well, and his closeness with his father’s tenant made him to be in his room after Femi had gone to work.


Crime Reports learnt that after Rilwan  heard that Femi was not around, he started disconnecting the television and DVD player in his room. When Suraju established from Rilwan that Femi was not aware of his intention, he  stopped the suspect from taking the household items away.

This was said to have infuriated Rilwan, and in order to ward off Suraju’s ‘interference’, he picked a bottle he found on the floor in the room, smashed it on the floor and stabbed the landlord’s son in the head.

Leaving the young man in a pool of his blood, Rilwan took the plasma TV and the DVD player, locked the door of the room with a padlock and left.

    It was further gathered that when Suraju’s father returned from Jumat prayers on that day and met the room of his tenant and son’s friend padlocked, he assumed that his son must have gone to his work place, so he went to his own apartment.
    It was Femi’s return at about 8p.m. that exposed the calamity that befell the deceased’s household, when he opened his door and met Suraju stone dead. After he raised the alarm and people rushed into his room to see the lifeless Suraju and also heard about the missing TV and DVD, it was assumed that armed robbers perpetrated the evil act.
    But some people brought it to the notice of the family that Rilwan had earlier in the day approached them with a TV and DVD player that he said he wanted to sell.


Some people were said to have gone in search of the suspect and after he was found, he confessed to killing Suraju. But he could not produce the items he stole as he claimed that he went to throw them into the river at Omi Adio when he heard that Suraju had been discovered dead.

When detectives from DCI visited the river, they could not find the items though the river was not flowing because of  dry season.

In an interview with Crime Reports, Rilwan said he did not know what came over him to make him kill his friend.

    “That day, I went to the shop of my friend, Femi. I wanted to give him a shirt that he said he would want to wear on Sunday, February 1. When I got to his shop, I did not meet him so I went to his residence. I did not meet him at home but met his friend, Suraju, who happened to be my friend also.
    “I enquired on Femi’s whereabouts and he told me he was not around. As I stepped and got to the door, I turned back and went into Femi’s room again. Suraju asked whether I had seen Femi and I replied in the negative. He took an excuse to visit the bathroom. While he was away, I stood in front of Femi’s plasma television and started disconnecting its cables.
    “When Suraju returned to the room and saw me disconnecting the television, he queried me on why I was doing it. I told him I was taking it away. He demanded to know why I was taking it away, asking whether I had informed Femi.
    “I replied him that I had not seen Femi but I would take the TV away. He said he would not allow me to take it away. As we were arguing over  this, I sighted a bottle on the floor. I took the bottle, broke it and stabbed him on the head.
    “He  had not done anything for me prior to that time. Femi did not owe me any money. Initially when I came there, I had no intention of stealing the TV but something just came over me as I got to his door  when I made my exit the first time. I didn’t intend to kill Suraju,” Rilwan narrated.

The suspect claimed that he was not taking drugs. “I sell clothes at Omi Adio and live with my parents,” he claimed.

But a police source informed Crime Reports that the suspect’s father said that he left home in 2014 after he was reprimanded over an issue. Since then, the father was quoted to have said, Rilwan had been sleeping around in his friends’ places.

Ebonyi State House of Assembly building totally razed this morning

Ebonyi State House of Assembly complex was totally razed to the ground this morning Feb. 24th after a fire broke out from the Accounts department and spread to the media section of the complex. The cause of the fire has not been ascertainment but workers in the complex are suspecting it was an arson.

Fake Customs officer nabbed after duping victims in acution sales (Photo)

The police in Lagos have arrested a fake Deputy Superintendent of Customs, Ramoni Raji, who along with two others allegedly duped their victims of not less than N5m in auction sales.

Punch Metro learnt that Raji, with the other suspects ─ Usman Ibrahim and Adekunle Thomas ─ was apprehended on Tuesday, February 17, in the Gowon Estate area of Lagos. They were arrested by operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad.

Our correspondent gathered that while Raji disguised as a DSC, Thomas pretended to be Raji’s driver, while Ibrahim was in charge of giving out bank account for victims to pay.

It was gathered that Raji told victims that he was in charge of auctioning vehicles and some goods in containers.

The police explained that the three allegedly usually took their victims to the Wharf, Apapa area to show them the goods and vehicles.
Our correspondent learnt that a victim, identified simply as Mrs. Uche, was duped of N1.8m when she opted to buy an auctioned Toyota Highlander and paid the sum into an account supplied by the suspects.

Speaking with PUNCH Metro, 63-year-old Raji from Okene, Kogi State, confessed that he had used the customs uniform to dupe victims in Abuja, Lagos and Ilorin, Kwara State.

He said,
 “I am not a customs officer. I decided to buy the uniform to do business. I bought it from a tailor for N5, 000 with all the kits. The tailor did not know I was not a customs officer.
“I bought the DSC uniform and rank in 2013. The name on the uniform is Yakubu Lawal. I used the uniform to do fake auction sales. I went to Uche’s shop on Unity Road, Ikeja, and convinced her to pay for the vehicle. She initially paid N800, 000 and then the balance subsequently.
“We also have buyers who had fallen into our trap in Ilorin and Abuja. We made N3.5m from a deal in Ilorin, Kwara State. We made N1.4m from another deal.”
Raji, who lived with his family in the Ipaja area of Lagos, added that he became a suspected fraudster when he lost his job with a flour mill firm.

Adekunle, 52, from Ido, Ekiti State, who feigned as the driver, told our correspondent that he was paid 10 per cent on every deal Raji brought to the gang.

He said
, “It was last year that I met Raji. I drove him whenever he went to meet his clients. He usually gave me 10 per cent on every deal. We met at a beer parlour, and we became good friends. I did not know it will get us into trouble.”
Ibrahim, 39-year-old from Kano State, also noted that he got about N250,000 from the deals he participated in.
“When we made the N1.4m, he paid me N140, 000. I also got N80,000 from another deal,” he said.
The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Kenneth Nwosu, confirmed the arrest, adding that investigations were ongoing at the SARS into the matter.

He said,

“The fake customs officer was arrested with full DSC rank in customs uniform. He and others have duped several citizens. Investigation continues at the SARS.”

My Parents Knew I Was A Robber-Suspect

A suspected member of an armed robbery gang, Mutiu Rasheed, who was arrested by the Lagos State Police Command, has said his parents were aware that he was an armed robber.
Punch Metro learnt that Rasheed, along with two others ─ Ahmed Musiliu and Sodiq Dada ─ were nabbed by operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad on February 5.

Our correspondent gathered that the three suspects were rounded up by the police in the Isheri Berger area ─ a boundary area between Lagos and Ogun states.

The police said the suspects, who had confessed to the crime, made use of four locally-made guns, two of which had reportedly been recovered.


Our correspondent learnt that Musiliu was first arrested by the police before he led detectives to apprehend the others.

The police added, however, that the gang had other members who were still at large.

During interrogation, the suspects were said to have confessed to have organised robberies during which many vehicles were stolen, including a Toyota Highlander, a Toyota Camry and a Toyota Sienna.

Speaking with PUNCH Metro, 22-year-old Rasheed said his parents, who knew about his robbery operations, had warned him to return the guns in his possession, but he refused.

He said,
“I stayed in Ketu with my parents where I worked in an aluminium company before joining the gang.My mother first knew about this when other gang members came to our house to report to her that I had fled with their guns to Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State.
“She then called me on the phone to return the guns, but I did not listen. I was using the guns to go on operations in the Ijebu Ode area.When we went out as a gang, we snatched vehicles which were usually Toyota products.
“We sold them, but the gang did not give me my correct share. Since the police arrested me, my parents have not come to check on me because they are aware of all my activities.”
Also, Musiliu, 23, who had served a one-year jail term at the Ikoyi Prison, said he had been going out with robbery gangs for over six years.

He said,
 “In 2008, I was arrested for armed robbery. We were five members in that gang. I was sent to the Ikoyi Prison where I served one-year jail term. We had robbed in the Ikorodu, Oshodi, Ketu and Ijebu Ode areas.
“When I came out of prison, I joined another gang. The gang leader provided the guns. I was part of the gang that robbed a Toyota Camry vehicle in Ikorodu area. We sold the vehicle at a giveaway price and I was given N100, 000.”
Dada, the third suspect, said he was formerly working as a commercial bus driver before he was lured to join the gang.

He added that he had also gone on several operations.

Villagers burn suspected bank robber to death in Benue( Graphic Pics)

Pandemonium broke out in a border village of Konshisha and Oju local government areas of Benue State when a suspected criminal, who was among the armed robbers that attacked a bank, was burnt to death.Leadership ng reports

Recall that suspected gunmen, armed with dangerous weapons and ammunition, numbering about 20, had, weekend, raided the First Bank branch in Vandeikya LGA of the state, carting away huge sums of money, and killed several others in the process.


The dare devil robberse had a gun battle with the police in the area while trying to escape. The vehicle conveying the robbers, however, crash landed and somersaulted into the bush.
It was gathered that many of the robbers fled with bullet wounds and unfortunately for one of them, was apprehended by the villagers, and instantly set ablaze.

A villager who simply gave his name as Ejum told newsmen yesterday that, “One of the robbers who was trying to escape while the gun battle with the police was ongoing fell into the hands of the villagers and was given juggle justice”.

According to Ejum, the arrested culprit had confessed to being a member of the robbery gang and that the revelation angered the locals who could not wait for police intervention as they hung tyre on his neck and set it on fire

Groom dies in strange auto crash on way to marriage introduction

While people were busy celebrating love last Val’s Day, a family somewhere in Ebonyi was suddenly overtaken by grief over what would have been the beginning of a beautiful love story between their daughter and the man she was bringing home for introduction.

The young woman, a native of Uburu in Ohaozara Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, was bringing home her suitor when only a few poles to her family house, the vehicle they were traveling in had an accident and she watched helplessly as the one she loved took the last breath.

The accident happened at Enufaith in Umunaga Eweze, just before the Ohaozara West Development Council in Uburu. They were traveling in a commercial bus.

Strangely, the young man, an indigene of Abia State, was the only occupant of the bus that died in the accident. The intending couple had traveled alongside a few family members of the man from Aba for the event that was to hold just a few meters from the scene of the accident.

According to an eyewitness account, the passengers claimed that the driver was trying to avoid hitting an old woman who was crossing the road when he lost control and hit the wall of a building.
The eyewitness, Frank Ori said he ran out of his house when he heard the deafening bang of the vehicle hitting the wall.

“I heard when people were shouting and so I ran out of my house to the place. The passengers were talking about a woman. When we asked whom they were referring to, they explained that while they were coming an old woman was crossing the road.

“So, the driver tried to avoid hitting her. But seeing that he was about to hit a building, he turned the steering suddenly and in the process the vehicle somersaulted and hit another wall. But when we came out, we could not see any woman fitting the description they gave. We asked people and they said that they did not see any woman like that.

“Strangely again, out of all the passengers, it was only the young man that was killed. The wife-to-be, who was also traveling with him,  suffered only a small glass cut. They were all coming in the same vehicle. It was only that man that died from the accident. The girl he was going to marry had only a small cut, along with one other woman. Every other person in the bus was safe. It was just the three of them that were rushed to the hospital,” Ori said.

Sunday Sun gathered that the father of the girl was late, while her mother resided in the village. The girl was resident in Aba where she met the late suitor. Ori explained that when rescuers made to move the man out of the damaged vehicle, they discovered that he was not talking.

“It happened that when the vehicle hit the wall, part of the block that fell from the wall fell on the man’s head. It was lying on his head. Then we rushed him alongside the wife-to-be and one other woman that sustained an injury to the Presbyterian Joint Hospital in Uburu. A renowned professor of Agriculture ,who was murdered in the hands of police who mistook him for a Boko Haram kingpin ,calls to question the tactics adopted by our security agencies to fight insurgency.

On Sunday, February, 15, 2015, the Kano State Police Command announced that its men killed two men believed to be Boko Haram kingpins. The deceased, Ahmed Falaki the police said, on Saturday attacked a police station in Kibiya LGA of the state.

According the Command’s spokesman Magaji Majia, some insurgents on motorcycles had at about 5.30pm the previous day attacked Kibiya police station.

    “On the spot, two of the sect members were killed and two others were arrested by the villagers. The remaining members ran towards Ningi road that leads to Bauchi State.”

Majia, an Assistant Supritendent of Police (ASP) announced, apparently to the relief of the people of the state, that the two insurgents arrested by the villagers had been handed over to them and were being interrogated.


Few hours after the police briefing, a call came from a lecturer in Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria. The caller told THISDAY that they haboured the fear that the police may have mistaken Ahmed Falaki, a professor of agriculture in ABU, for a Boko Haram member.
Said the caller,

    “The police have announced that they killed two Boko Haram members on the Sumaila-Kimbiya road. We heard that Professor Falaki’s jeep was snatched on the same road by Boko Haram members at about the same time.”

The caller expressed fears that some inept policemen may have killed innocent Falaki and tagged him a Boko Haram kingpin.He added that the confusion in ABU was heightened by reports that Falaki’s Toyota SUV was abandoned by unknown persons in Burra, in neighbouring Bauchi State.

Shortly after the call, THISDAY contacted the Bauchi State Police spokesman Haruna Mohammed. The officer confirmed that his Command recovered a white Toyota Hilux SUV with ABU Institute of Agriculture inscribed on it.
According to Mohammed, the vehicle was seized in neighbouring Kano State. He however said he couldn’t comment on the occupants of the recovered Toyota truck.

    “All I can tell you is that our men recovered a white Toyota Hilux jeep believed to belong to Ahmadu Bello University. We don’t know who the occupants were or their whereabouts. That is all we know,”

The following day, a clearer picture of what happened emerged after THISDAY contacted Kano State Police Command PRO Majia.
Tasked to comment on the allegation that the Boko Haram kingpin they killed was actually Professor Falaki, he became defensive.
The police spokesman began by “correcting the impression that the men who attacked Kibiya police station were Boko Haram.” He said,

    “Let us just assume they were gunmen.Some gunmen attacked a police station in Kibiya. During the exchange of gunfire, one of the gunmen was killed. The others escaped.”

He insisted that “the professor (Falaki) was attacked by a mob.

    “We tried to rescue him, but unfortunately he was killed before we got there. We were however able to rescue the person accompanying the professor. He has been taken to hospital for treatment,” explained the police spokesman.

Majia, however, failed to confirm the village where Falaki was allegedly killed, or if the police made any arrests.
When THISDAY eventually got one of the professor’s children,  he dismissed the police position as “a fairy tale and an afterthought.”
According to Falaki’s son,  “our father had travelled to Yadagungume in Ningi LGA of Bauchi State. On the trip was his younger brother, Abbas, and his official driver.”

Falaki’s ordeal, said the son,  began after his official Toyota Hilux SUV was seized by some gunmen suspected to be the same people who attacked Kibiya police station.
According to the son,

    “Prof called about 6pm on Saturday that they had a flat tyre in Fala village in Tudun Wada LGA of Kano State. He, however, later assured that the tyre was being fixed and that they would soon hit the road.”

According to the son, it was shortly after fixing the vehicle that some gunmen on motorcycles sped past the professor.

    “They turned back and pointed a gun at my father, his driver and brother. They demanded the key to the Hilux jeep. My father asked the driver to hand over the key. The gunmen now asked if the jeep had an immobilizer. The driver said ‘No.’
    “Not convinced, the gunmen started the jeep and revved it for about five minutes. When the engine didn’t go off, they loaded their motorcycles and sped off.”

THISDAY gathered from the driver that shortly after the gunmen sped off with the Hilux SUV, Falaki called up one of his brothers and narrated their ordeal. Prof, he said, promised that they would get a commercial vehicle and continue their trip to Kano.However, shortly after the robbery, said the driver, the villagers became “funny.”.
He said,

    “They began interrogating us on what we knew about the  Boko Haram people whom we just gave our jeep to, as if we were suspects. None of our explanations appeared to convince them.

    “We were led to the police station. There, the police accused Prof of being a Boko Haram kingpin. He showed them his ABU identity card. On sighting the card, the police claimed it was fake. All attempts by Prof to convince them he was a university lecturer fell on deaf ears.
    “At this point, one of the villagers hit Prof on the head with a big stick. They also hit Abbas, but concentrated more on Prof. The villagers then took turns to hit Prof with all manner of weapons in the police station until he died,” said the driver.

According to the driver, “After Prof was confirmed dead, the police and villagers began jubilating that they had killed a Boko Haram kingpin. They said we would meet our end in Kano SARS (Special Anti Robbery Squad).

    “When the SARS men came, Prof’s body was dumped in the back of a pickup. Abbas, who sustained serious injuries, and I were handcuffed and driven all night to Kano.
    “Prof’s body was dumped in the mortuary in the early hours of Sunday. Abbas was admitted in hospital but with handcuffs and leg iron,” relayed the driver.

One daughter of the murdered Professor described the incident as “the most traumatic event of our lives.” She said,

    “After our father called that his jeep was stolen but that they would get a commercial vehicle to bring them to Kano we were, expectedly, relieved.
    “However, our relief gave way to panic when they didn’t return that night. Worse still was that all their cell phones kept ringing out.
    “On Sunday morning, we went to the Accident and Emergency wards of most hospitals. No news. My brothers then decided to go to the mortuary. There they found my dad’s body. It was the attendants who told them the police brought my dad’s body early on Sunday morning.The question now shifted to the whereabouts of Abbas and the driver. The morgue attendants then gave the number of the SARS officer who brought my dad’s body.”

She continued,

     “For a while the SARS officer didn’t pick our calls. He later called back that my dad was a Boko Haram member. That Abbas and the driver were suspects and would soon be interrogated.
    “It was at this point that we informed ABU authorities and prominent lecturers in ABU and Bayero University. They called to inform the police they just killed Africa’s leading agriculturist,” she said.‘It was when the police realised their grave mistake of killing a professor that they quickly released his body for burial. This was  about 3.30pm on Sunday. He was buried later on the same Sunday,” she added.

THISDAY checks revealed that Falaki began teaching in ABU in 1975. He is reputed to be one of Africa’s leading agriculturists, Falaki, according to his profile on the ABU website, in the course of research visited 75 countries in five continents. The professor had over 85 published works to his credit.

Falaki’s friends and associates described the murdered don as a “jolly good fellow who ran an open door policy to all.”
His immediate family has sent a petition to the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Mr. Suleiman Abba. The family has demanded an exhaustive investigation into the circumstances that led to the cold blooded murder of their 66- year old breadwinner.
